It depends on the vigor of the substrain bro any strain has the capabilities. FYI optimizing your parameters will get you results quicker always! GL

i understand that, but with perfect conditions (well close to perfect) which way would be the fastest???? Do any strains stick out as far as speed is concerned?

I'd agree with StopGo. But it takes time and practice no matter what method you use, whether its the fastest or the slowest.
Someone who doesn't know what they are doing while using the "fastest" method could quite easily take longer (due to failures) to produce fruits than an experienced grower using a significantly "slower" method.

Some of the vendor sites advertise some strains as being quick colonizers, but the majority of the speed is a matter of what you do with it.
Whatever you come up with that is the fastest, could be improved upon. The extra week or two will make a big difference in yield. Good things take time
But, if it were a race or something, I'd inoculate a jar of WBS (or any other grain), let it colonize (9 days under optimal conditions), spoon it out into a pan, and throw it in a humidity chamber you might get fruits within 3 weeks.
That would be a terrible way to do it though... what's the rush?

LC to bulk substrate in spawn bags. You can easily go from spores to mycelium to colonization to fruiting in 12-15 days.

Yes, I skip the spawn phase entirely. The key to speed is having liquid cultures on hand at all times. The key to success is having a good substrate mix and the correct moisture content. The rest is only a matter of time. Works great with the Double Tub tek as well.

......oh, and with speeding up the grow is it not true that the smaller/less developed shrooms are gonna be more potent pound for pound?

Check out this tek by Blue Helix. You will need a substrate recipe though. If you're interested shoot me a PM. I've got a good recipe with perfect moisture content. Having good moisture content is more than half the battle.

Hang on a second. I don't really know if I could truly say that I'm skipping the spawn phase of the grow. Spawning is simply the introduction of live culture to an uncolonized substrate. Injecting liquid cultures could also be construed as spawning since the same procedure is being done, just in a different manner.

i tried mixing birdseed and yellow popcorn and i had pretty good results, but i think that the white popcorn has more nutrition for the mushies due to its generally higher sugar content! all together i learned that i (personally) like to mix BRF with WBS at about half/half for the best results that i've ever had....but that doesn't say too much since i'm kinda new. (about a year and a half of fungus cult.) unfortunatly i just found this sit like half way thru january.

>>>>I don't really know if I could truly say that I'm skipping the spawn phase of the grow.
Well, if you want to cut it like that, using seed would be like spawning twice. You spawn the LC to the seed and then spawn the seed to the bulk sub. You're correct in principal.
haha, for my first outdoor grow, I'll be "spawning" 3 times. Once to seed (12 jars), once to crushed corn cob (12 gallons counting the seed), and once to the bulk sub (this will be an outdoor grow).
