Casing Too Dry?
    #5251625 - 02/01/06 03:40 PM (18 years, 14 hours ago)

Im worried that my casing layer is too dry. I have something like a monotub going with 4 polyfill holes just above the casing layer and 2 in the lid. To give some extra FAE I have an air pump running in through the top holes. The tub is about 3ft. X 1.5 ft. Im worried that my humidity is too low. It seems that every time I mist the sides of the tub most of the water has evaporated in about 4 hrs. There is plenty of condensation below the bottom holes around the trash bag the substrate is in. Am I worring too much? I dont have a hygrometer so I cant check the RH. I currently have what seems to be a pretty good pinset, the # of pins is tripeling every day. Could I put some perilite around the edges where the bag is? Let me know if you think im going to be ok or I need to do something to up the RH. I want these pins to grow to their full potential. Thanks.

If you want to up the humidity, just remove the air pump. If that doesn't work than tape a hole shut. You don't need perlite for a casing, especially the mono or double tubs. GL
