Old Timer's Progress

A friend has had this tub of straw under light with increased fanning for 4 days to no avail. How come there aren't any primordia forming?
Also, Is it time to initiate pinning on this one, or should they continue to wait this one out?
Should they wait until this second cake is as colonized as the first one?

That is a fine looking experiment you have going on there. As stated above, give it a little more time. After 12 days start to wonder. Dioze1

Should they wait on the second one until it is colonized like the first one? It seems to be taking forever. It has been 9 days since the second one was spawned. They thought it would colonize quicker than this. Also, should they cold shock the first picture to initiate pinning? or just let them run their course? How often should they be fanned while waiting for primordia to form as opposed to after they are formed and are growing?

My friend is wondering if he should cover the straw with seran wrap. What does this really do, how could it help them?

ok. your post is a little unclear , or im a total burnout but ill try to help . my buddy has 2 rubbermade tubs that are still colonizing. he is aware that straw can dry out real easy. so he keeps it covered at all times . saran wrap with tiny holes and fanning about 3 times a day has worked , but you must watch out that it doesn't get to moist or condensation on straw . He recently recovered his lids with tyvek house wrap , becouse of something he read on another page . once they are fully colonized you most add humidity and drop tempature , this is important becouse its hard to get a good fruiting on plain straw . his are almost ready , but he is using straw/shit mix . but he says when he used plain straw he set block directly on pealite . use must keep as high as humidity as possiable without condensation forming on straw .
