FoodSaver Vacuum Sealing for Soups
    #5245367 - 01/31/06 03:18 AM (18 years, 2 months ago)

I'm getting ready to start planning out some decent meals that I can take backpacking with me. One of my favorites is soup. I make so many types of soup that I can't even think of them all. I'm thinking about using a foodsaver thing to vacuum seal soups and then freeze them in 2-serving portions. Then I could either thaw it before I left to go camping or just take it frozen if it's hot and I think it will thaw. When I get to the camping site, I can just boil some water and throw the (unopened!) foodsaver bag in there and re-heat the soup. Cut it open, serve, eat. Yum.

Those things kick ass!
My friend uses his for everything.

Dry ice works great if you want to keep something frozen.
But for short term camping, I would just freeze it and keep in on ice.

How do you vacuum seal a bag of soup without sucking the soup out.

I've heard of it being done with dehydrated ingredients where you just at water, but a bag of soup?

In fact, your better off just bringing cans of soup if your willing to carry it in a bag.
