It can be done. This link has some good info. They talk about s-video out to tv about half way down the page. http://ruel.net/pc/tv.tuner.converter.htm

"Before we go over the options, let's talk a little bit about the resolution that you will be looking at if you are to hook up to a regular conventional television set. The regular conventional TV set actually has a smaller resolution than that of a PC monitor -- even if your TV set happens to be physically larger than your PC monitor. The resolution size of a regular conventional (analog) TV set is 544x372. The Display Properties under Windows that you will see on most PC monitors are set at 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 or larger. As a result, don't expect a PC windows application to look sharp and clear on a regular conventional TV set. However, any TV show, video recording, DVD, or other TV-type video coming from the PC should look fine on the TV set. And that's because the regular conventional TV set is made for watching TV and not for looking at PC windows applications. In contrast, if you were to hook up to an HDTV display, then you may expect the picture to be closer to what you may have on a PC monitor when using PC windows applications. The other alternative if you want a big "sharp PC monitor picture" is to simply get the largest PC monitor that you can afford instead of hooking up to a TV set. In short, if you are going to hook up to a TV set, think about that connection to primarily first be for watching TV and not necessarily for desktop PC computing. Nonetheless, if you are to hook up to a regular conventional TV set, then you can try some tricks to at least make the fonts in windows applications to be a little more legible particularly for if you want to browse the web. You can click HERE for some discussion in a section about adjusting the fonts in windows over on the frontends page here at Ruel.Net."

well, i have a 52" hd (1080i/480p) so i think the resolution will be ok. i'm really just wanting a way to put g-force (wmp plug-in) on the tv. i already rigged the computer to my surround sound. i guess after it's all over though the practical applications derived could be endless. maybe now i can cancel my netflix.

I hooked my computer up to my tv once and it looked like crap. I have just a standard def tv and had to use a s-video to rca adapter. I didn't mess with it much and gave up on that idea pretty quick.

If you plan on using that card for any games at all, please listen, and avoid the 5200 like it was your grandmother running at you naked.

The FX line is garbage, and the 5200 is the most foul part of that garbage. Actualy, the generation before it (the Ti line) outperfomed it by miles.
It supposed to 'support' DX9 applications, but its so incredibly slow, that you need to turn off DX9 effects in games to run them properly.

If you need a cheap cheap video card, go with a higher end Gefore 4 Ti. Performance wise, you wont regret it.

But seriously, any ATI or Nvidia card from 2-3 years ago should be cheap enough to buy now, I'm nto sure why you wouldnt go with an ATI 9600xt, or Nvidia 6600. Both are great cards and have dropped in price.

The new nVidia 7 series has caused an (obvious) drop in the 6 series price somewhat. I'm getting a Geforce 6800GS for my new build.
