Let me introduce: ANTONIUS..... * 2
    #524241 - 01/18/02 07:13 AM (22 years, 8 months ago)

I bought a shelf at IKEA that includes a cover with zippers.

For now it?s only passively humidified with what escapes from casings, but I have to mist a lot.

I?ll add a humidifier to it in the next days.

The mushrooms on the pictures in the front are B+ on birdssed secind flush, at the back Ecuador, left on birdseed second flush, right on rye, the same isolate first flush.

The red stuff is expanded clay and water, acts like an additional humidity source.

Very nice, especially because of the modularity ;)

The only problem I see in the future is that it is from metall and could start to rust after some months. The paint, if not injured, should protect for a while though.

How much did you pay for?

Elektrolurch

p.d. BTW I also use this expanded clay for the humidification of my terrarium ;)

thats sweet. closet size too. I would personally much rather have one of these than a hydropod, and i bet these are cheaper.

ive had the same idea before but using a bread rack(sheet pans) thats what they look like. its a fantastic idea. the possibilities are enormous. leave it to Anno to revolutionize things. i would also like to know what you paid for it. also what is the rH in it? you could put a tub (dishtub) on the bottom shelf with perlite and some h202 water in it.

1. Coir on some and 50/50+ on others.
2. Around 40?
3. I would want to add a cool mist humidifier, but since I can?t get one here I?ll attach an ultrasonic humidifier on a timer.

1,2. Probably in every hydroponic shop.
You should ask someone who lives in the states.

3. Similar, hard to tell.
4. Probably you, in case I manage to get the Green Card by then.

Very cool Anno...
I think with running a humidifier up underneith it....and some sort of plastic with sides builts up to catch the dripping water that is great little setup.

Nice looking mushrooms as well.

What are you growing on the alder shavings ?

For those in the U.S. I seen that same type of rack with cover setup at WalMart about 6 months ago. It was in the section for storage bins and laundry related goods.

That was a joke concerning slugs in case anybody realy belived it.

The reason for missing caps was I cut the caps off for printing.

Slugs are a problem outdoors, but indoors in small scale I never heard of slugs threatening the crop. So you can sleep without worries.

Hehe, that was my first assumtion, cutting off the caps for prints. Thanks for the new idea using Ikea products for a better good. I might look into this during the weekend. Is it really useful so far Anno?

By the way, the cost of Antonius (not a male stripper, but the Ikea cabnet thing) is $20.8 dollars US currency, if i correctly calculated this out. But thats only relying on Anno's cost over where he lives. Ikea might change the price over in US. But anyway, I'll find out this weekend   .

Shroomism,

It's there on the web site..just a pain in the ass to find.
Take the Url .....then in the center of the page in the green border hit next.
Ikea Antonius

ANTONIUS storage system can organize virtually any space,
$219 this combination. RA. Rust-resistant lacquered steel construction.

ANTONIUS cart and cover lets air circulate to keep textiles fresh and moisture-free, $52.90. RA

I got some of these like 8 years ago for my closet organizers.
From a discount store for like $10.00 a peice...no covers though.

Aha...I knew it would be more expensive... its $50 just for that little one...

The big one is $220...but is that for the whole setup? And it doesn't say anything about the big unit coming with the cover.

No , I didn?t actually.
I got a cool mist humidifier now and I let it run for 10 minutes every 2 hours. This gives me a more or less constant humidity of 95% on the top shelf.

It?s simply a set of baskets that can be pulled out. Shelves would work equaly good probably.

I thought the above was the last question

I have the setup with the humidifier for a few days now. No problems. I said above I don?t have to mist, well what I ment to say is I don?t have to mist the walls of the shelf system to get a high humidity. But I do mist the casings every second day so the casing surface remains moist.

The air circulation is accomplished by the cool mist humidifier.
I ordered the humidifier from the US.
You?ll need a electric voltage converter if you want to use it in Europe, Club99.

Well.. I've brought back this thread from the dead to ask.... What kind of lighting do you use for this setup, and on what kind of schedule? 12/12?

Also.. do you have any need of fanning those puppies?

The shelf cover is tanslucent, and that?s where they get their light from, natural indirect daylight.

I?m using a cool mist humidifier for humidity and gas exchange, read a few posts further up.

I got one, its very useful and helps lower contam rate....not for any reason, just my other storage had lots of contam results.

Very convinient and useful shelves. Easy to open and view. Worth the money.

Should've got the bigger size, got the smaller four shelf one, the height on the shelfs knock over caps.

After 1 year of use I ran into problems this winter. Due to very cold outside temperatures, the air inside the house is very dry.
Since the walls of the Antonius are air permeable to some extent, the humidifier coudn?t humidify the system anymore to the high 90es level.

What I did was I took some translucent plastic sheets and covered the inside of Antonius with a layer.

Now the humidity is again where it should be.

Some fresh Panaeolus cyanescens:

Beautifull setup, looks very compact, yet holds alot. I just ordered a syringe of Panaeolus cyanescens Florida strain, I can't wait to start growing them, although this would be my first attempt at this species, do you have anything that you could reccommend. I also ordered 4 of those myco environment bags from sporeworks, they look promising, I also got a syringe of Golden teacher from them. Thanks and nice work.

For a syringe probably the best thing would be to use the "all in one substrate" in cake form.

Thanks, I have already read it, I think I will do both and outside and an inside grow.
Wait till the bags are colonized, and spawn and outdoor bed with 2 bags, and the other 2 indoor, prolly case them. How much more potent would you say these are compared to cubes?

Usually every couple of weeks, or immediately if I have a contaminated casing or similar.

I just wipe the surfaces with a mild bleach solution.

resin, i got mine at IKEA for about $70 USD (frame, baskets, cover, wheels) :\.
It's quite expensive in the US, but I'm takig Anno's advice and hoping that it works.

Unfortunately, they discontinued the white translucent cover and gave you a grey, more opaque cover instead. It's very hard to put this cover on, and I suggest that you let IKEA do it for you.

To solve the dark cover problem I'm going to experiment with blue xmas lights strung around inside. I hope that will do the trick.

I'll keep anyone who's interested updated.

well, i copied anno in that i bought an antonius. i already had the humidifier and a previous entrainment system but this antonius looked suitable for my space. now, this same antonius is available at home depot for 189$. what a rip!!!!!!!!thanks for this post anno, owe you one!!!! unfortunately, they stopped making the clear plastic zipper coverings. so i used a little 4mm clear plastic, a glue gun, and some velcro. here is a pic of it.

I've been building one of these for about 2 weeks now.

I found a rack thats gr8t but couldn't find a covered one that I liked.

Heres what I did
I found some nice thick shower curtains
I got a heavy duty needle for a sewing maching and stiched everthing together.
I'm not gr8t at it so when I finished stiching it up I applyed goop sealant to the seams.
I used fishing line as thread.
I have not finished this yet because I lack the ability to sew on the zippers.
Thats going to be the part that has stress applyed to it so I figured I would get some who can do it better than I can to do this for me.

>Anno, how thick is the hose attached to the vicks cool mist?
1/2 inch

>Did you have to cut it? If so, with what type of cutting device?
The hose? Cut the hose? Sure, I cut it with a knife to be only 4 feet long.

>Also, is there a timer on the cool mist unit?
Yes. 10 minutes every 2 hours except for night(from 11 PM to 7 AM where it?s off.

> How else could you ensure that it's not over humidifying the air?
Don?t know.

>How often do you fill the vicks with water and how much does it hold?
Around 1 time a month and it holds around 6 quarts of water.

There are digital and analog timers. You plug them between the wall socked and the plug of your device.
The smallest interval on an analog timer is 15 minutes. On a digital usually 1 minute.
The digital is slightly more expensive, I payed around 20$ for mine.

>The Vicks Cool Mist system must be exchanging new air along with the moisture, correct?
Actually the air exchange is the main goal, you only humidify the air as to not dry out the casing.

> Is it enough air so that it is self sufficient (no manual fanning nor another form of air exchange)?
Definitely.

> How many square feet (or gallons) in a container would you say one
>Vicks cool mist could handle?
Many.
As you see, I only have it on 5 minutes per hour, so it would be good for a much bigger terrarium than antonius.
