I am just starting I have done a lot of research before starting but I can't get any results. I have jars with RTV healing ports and filter disc RTV to the lid over a second hole I first did extra light malt extract at a 4% ratio to water now I used Brita filter water had no distilled and seen tap water was fine filtered water would be in between anyways I don't have PC so steam sterilized jar out of the water for 90 minutes injected with 1.5 cc of spore solution I don't have incubator so I set jar on heating pad for cold blooded animal cages it has a knob for different settings but no marking for temp so have no idea how warm or cold it is the jar set for 2+ weeks stirring daily and nothing but sediment it seemed to be more sediment then the beginning I figured I screwed up so started corn syrup LC 2 weeks same thing so I filled 3 syringes with the first LC and dumped them bother out started 2 honey LC one with my first LC and the other with spores I put these jars at room temp (68-72 at my house) in a Chester drawer been 8 days nothing much I had leftover honey LC so I put it in a sealed unsterile jar solution also not sterile and that solution is really cloudy so I'm sure my jars are sterile just no growth

If I took a pf cake that is colonized, could I break it into crumbles, than transfer to the lc jar? Would that work to start colonization in the jar for the lc or would I have to use ss or whatever print?

Hell no that won't work. With your seemingly limited knowledge (no offense meant) you be better off growing mushrooms out of your cake. Then take a biopsy from a pretty mushroom and put it in a ziploc bag for a few days. Once it is fuzzy white, drop that in the lc.

No offense man, thats why I was asking, just trying to see if I can skip a step and hook myself up with a bunch more grain jars before new years. Thanks for the quick reply

My first successful lc was made from 1 of my 2 good out of 12 pf cakes. I flame sterilized a butter knife cooled it with alcohol and cut some pf cake and tossed it in a lc.
I got lucky, 4 ounce first flush from the lc.

I'm definitely gonna try this tomorrow. Will be my first try at lc and you made it very simple thanks! Has anyone ever tried using maple sap straight out of the tree? It has about the same consistency as water before its boiled down to make syrup and I have a few taps .

It will work, but syrup is mostly sucrose, with only traces of glucose. Mushrooms love glucose the most of the simple sugars. so it might work, but might not be "ideal"

I just wondered the sap straight from the tree doesn't taste much different than water. Think it takes 40 gallons boiled down to make 1 gallon of pure syrup. So am I correct that I just use water and a tablespoon or so of real natural honey for my lc ??

A tablespoon per cup is way to much, I've since corrected that to a teaspoon... My favourite is half a teaspoon of honey, and half a teaspoon of pure maple syrup per 250mls of water.

Will it last until I'm ready to make more jars (maybe 1.5-2months tops)?
Your lc should be fine just store it in the fridge.

Sluggish growth, tho I find honey and all simple sugars contribute to sluggish growth to begin with.

Too much and it will not grow at all. Workman of sporeworks recommends only 0.1-0.5% malt extract in LCs. I find lower works very well.
I even used clear apple juice before.
I do not use honey anymore, it often goes cloudy, you can let it settle and decant it off and resterilize.

End of the boil cycle grain water diluted down to 1:4 has replaced ALL OTHER culture media options as the culturing media of choice in this scientific research lab, and ALL of the aforementioned recipes mentioned in the last 10 posts have been researched with in the past numerous times. LME was the favorite until GWLC (Grain Water Liquid Culture) was experimented with.
Diluted high quality Red Milo Liquid Culture.

Non diluted high quality winter rye berry grain water liquid culture.
