I make lc from agar. I do not test the lc. I can usually tell if it's good or not by simply looking at it. Usually being the key word. Most contams i can spot. But not all. I lost 180 jars/bags this summer to an lc with yeast. Did it scare me away from lc. Hell no. Because in the past decade lc has saved me so much time that I'm fine to lose once every year or so. Lc from spores can work. It worked lots of times for me, more than it failed. But it is not good practice. Go agar to lc. And probably test your shit. But i still don't

Awesome, I'm good with that for the same reasons, the end result is less work, time saved. If you like agar, go with it by all means but don't say that lc is worthless.

I don't think anyone said LC is worthless...at least not in the last page....I know I didn't.

well, I agree with bodhi. new growers always/most of the times go spores to LC with their poor sterile techniques, and if you wanna do things right you dont have time to wait for the LC to colonize, test it and then go inoculate and save a couple days on the master. my g2g sessions will be far ahead anyway!
they can be good for species that's harder to do than cubes, or species that dont like shaking that well.
g2g is where it's at for me. LI seems titillating but I cant find a proper blender for it. (yet).

i agree as well, one print can make 300 syringes which can do 300 jars, figure even 75% success rate your still fucking styling for a 20 dollar print but also i do feel this isn't the place to discuss this so i won't(anymore lol)

Hmm, okay, thanks for the responses. I am as new as it gets and have just ordered 2 types of cubensis spore syringes. I was planning on inoculating from straight spore syringe to substrate, but apparently this has a very low success rate.
I don't exactly know the difference between a regular LC and agar. Is using agar just a different (better) way to make an LC? And if people aren't using spore syringes to inoculate agar/LC's, what the heck are they using?

What is the main (obvious) difference between creating a LC with a spore injection vs. using ager?
And can I just buy an already made agar ready to inject into substrate?
Did you read any of the above posts?

Yes, I read the past few pages and seemed to see a lot of conflicting advice. Admittedly, a lot of it went over my head, especially when I think I'm being confused by semantics. It seemed like a handful of people arguing over nothing. I'll read back again.
It's kind of tough getting up to speed when such a huge chunk of the available information is a decade old and people have developed different methods to replace them.

Pre bought agar is iffy. Look up pasty plates. Start there. I would not recommend spores to lc. Go spores to agar. Or spores to brf cakes. Look up pf tek. That might be a better starting place for you

I am trying to do PF Tek, which I thought was a regular spore syringe straight into the RBF/Verm substrate. And then I had people telling me that's a bad idea because the contamination rate is so high so I should make LC or inject spores into agar and do whatever with that. I'm so confused now, ha.

Well I'm glad I got that figured out since I've been researching LC and agar nonstop. Why exactly is spore syringe to PF Tek okay, but so bad for other methods? Are the conditions in PF Tek just a lot more "protective" to the spores or what?
And what methods are really best for agar/LC?
Thanks for the help.

Idk. Dude figured it out and had a spore selling business. Get the pf tek down and then worry about agar. It's not a benefit. It's the next step after pf tek

Aw shit! This is the tek 3 years that got me started with grain after doing 2 successful brf grows. I actually still have some pics of the jars that were knocked up with it...just to say that it can/does work.

and here's 1 tub that came from that..

I kept a single LC jar in the fridge for about 8 months and it was still going strong. I only made 2 in total, so I can't really vouch too much for them, but this kind of brings back memories
Anyways, I wouldn't recommend this method to any new grower...I think I just got lucky.
LC's do work, but they also fail more often than any other technique from what I have seen. Agar to LC I guess would give you a higher success rate, but seems kind of counterproductive and I haven't touched LC since going to agar, so
