I think I read in RR notes that this is not a good practice for some reason. I seem to remember something about not knowing if its contaminated or something.
Anyone know why he would say this?
I don't see how its much different from other LC methods.
guess you can always do a test jar right?

I dont know what you mean by '"this" isnt good practice'..dunno what this is..
He is usually against LC's in general..unless they are from a grain jar injected with water and sucked back up (search "grain liquid culture", GLC)

I think spores to LC is considered 'bad practise' but I see zero problems with agar to LC.

I think both spore to LC and wedge to LC are bad practices I think becouse of "open" containers, grain LC uses fully closed containers with materials that are already checked (you can see that grain has proper myc and not mold).

What?! Nah mate.
By that rationale you could say the same thing bout wedge to a new plate being 'bad practise' due to the open container.
The reason why spores to lc is 'bad' is cos the spores have less chance of being sterile than a wedge. Even a GLC could could be contaminated if you used spores.

This is the method I have used for a while now. Works great, never had any problems and is so damn easy.

Depends on how clean it is. If it's nearly-sterile, it may last up to two years or so, sometimes three. I've heard of 3 years, been personally successful with 2-year old LC.
