I guess it is never too late to say thanks for a great thread, so Thanks.
I used this tek about 3 days ago to start my first LC, hell I just finished my first flush a week ago from a PF tek cake and here I am already trying my luck at LCs, thanks to easy to follow teks like this it is possible. I did mine from a PB print and I have a couple ?s.
First of all it also was my first print ever so I wasn't expecting it to stick to the foil so much. I kinda expected the spores to just fall off but i really had to work the spores off the foil using the edge of a sterilized razor blade. Any tricks to prevent this? The print was only 1 day old so it wasn't dried in a desiccator chamber yet. I went ahead and did 3 1/2 pt. LC jars with the 1 print. Because I had such trouble getting the spores off they were far from evenly distributed between the 3 jars, and I wasn't able to use the whole print either, didn't want to chance scraping about on the foil while contams could be landing on it. 1 of the jars already has some growth goin on in there, but the other 2 nothing noticeable. It has only been like 3 days, is that quick enough to see myc growth or is this likely a contam? I was hoping maybe this was one of the jars that had more spores fall in and grew faster. But truthfully all 3 jars have a lot of spores in there. Here's a pic after giving it a swirl.

The black spots are spores of course. Since they are entangled in the growth is that an indicator possibly that it is myc? I know you can't tell for sure until you shoot a test jar with it but I was hoping some of the details may help a more experienced person with LCs tell me something.
thanks!

I have followed this guide, and my jar has now been stored in dark place for about a day.
But the liquid is all blurry. Is this normal? Maybe I put in too much honey?

Hope someone can help. thanks.

Still looks a bit dark buddy. How much honey did you use? A teaspoon full is more than enough-you can easily get by on a couple if millilitres...

It should be a tablespoon maybe less. I was very carefull this time.
It looks a lot darker on the picture. It may have been due to the honey hadn't settled yet, the dark background or maybe because of the flash.
But here is a new picture.

I think it looks about right this time...what do you guys think?

Is it necessary to put anything over the hole in the lid or is the foil doing the job?
I can't find anything in the guide.

I can't find anything in the guide.
You need a foil lid to keep contams from falling into your culture. Anything else is optional.

Hi! Did this tek about 5 days ago with some potato boiled water added to normal water..
Everything worked well and easy. This tek is noob friendly, but not idiot friendly because I've forgot to shake the jar well after the inoculation! :P
Btw after 5 days after inoc. there's no sign of life inside my jar. Today I shaked it well, hoping something will happen.. What do you think I did wrong?
These are the problems that I think made my jar not growing:
1) My room temp is 21°C. Thought it will only slow down the grow, not so drammatically!!
2) I've used denatured alcohol to wipe my jars foil, and syringe.
3) When I've flame sterilized my syringe, I couldn't see the red glowing.. I've used a bic lighter, and there were a plenty of light (this is because I couldnt see the red glowing), so after a while I've stopped flaming and cooled the syringe wiping it with denatured alcohol... Maybe it wasnt that cool and it killed my spores?
4) Didn't shake well my jar. Maybe my spores died 'cause the honey/potato were all in one spot and there were no nutrients for them? :\
5) there's one spot for air exchange, taped with something similiar to a micropore tape (it's a scotch transpirant bandaid).
Hope that after my shake something will happen... There's no contamination either! Just nothing!
PS: I've let my jar to cool down all night long, impossible that it was too hot to kill them..
