thanks, otto, you are my hero!! i made mine almost 2 weeks ago, the ones with less honey did better than those with more. anyway, here is a pic with my results. the myc is really very thick, im gona have to give it a good shake before use. i made mine directly from print, this really is the way to go rather than making syringes, because it is easier, less risk of contams, you get rid of the germination stage when innoculating, and you end up with more inoculant than you know what to do with...! i think this tek will be useful to some newer members, so im bringing it back

This has probably been mentioned before but just incase it hasn't let me say that I recently used 9 month old karo LC that had been kept in the fridge and it showed no obvious signs of degradation.

hi all!!! thanks 4 all of your help, I took my half colonized jars,,, broke only the mycelium off of the cakes.. and crumbled and cased them in wet verm.. they are already poppin healthy mycelium through the top.... if kept in good fruiting conditions in my perlite/aquarium pumped chamber, i should have fruit in a week or 2..... thanks again... every little bit helped!!!

Before reading this i had no clue what an LC was. But I did this about two months ago and it worked great. there's "better" (some would say) LC teks but this one is great for beginners just like me.

yeah i used this tek and have great results so far... my jars were "shooting star"(strain) spores obviously from a ms. the jars didn't fully colonize bc the subst. got packed somehow. so i made an lc in case the half colonized jars i cased don't fruit,,, im betting they will.. ill put up picks of the casings and chamber tomorrow bc this is my first grow and i could use all the input i can get..
at any rate,,, i stuck the mycelium inside the LC 5 days ago and it's lookin good, clean, and cloudy as hell with baby myc. it's not done by 60% but it looks perfect..

here's pics of my fruiting chamber... it has been fluctuating temps between 70 and 82 fahrenheit for about a week.. non direct 150 watt indoor flood light, (full spectrum color range)on them at all times... 3 inches thick of wet perlite on the bottom of the chamber and an aquarium pump in a jar of water for humid... fan running beside the chamber... fanning inside 4 times a day... anyway, they were popping mycelium quick as soon as i cased them.. i lightly feathered more wet vermiculite over the quick pipping patches, and it hasn't looked any different for 2 days... does anyone think anything is wrong??

the chamber from a distance..

pic of casings taken from the outside of the chamber..

the first popping mycelium before i covered it...

would putting worm castings on my casings,(8 days after placing in the chamber), be bad for the shrooms?
thanks

About 1 month ago I got my first spores from the FSRE (Psilocybe Cubensis Australian). I made a successful LC using these instructions and then inoculated two 3/4 pint jars and one 1/2 pint jar of WBS (I couldn't fit more in my pressure cooker). Everything seems to be going fine, just that the spawn (wbs) is fairly weakly colonised, not dense like everyone elses. It's already incubating for 11 days at 80F, do you think it'll be fine?

This is an awesome thread. We just got our first shipment of spores from Ralph and we are eager to get started. We were planning on innoculating in brown rice flour, but this seems a lot easier. Can't wait to get started.
I do have one question -- after I grow the Mycelium, I pack the solution in my own syringes and then inoculate my substrate, is that correct? In your experience with this method, does this save time rather than innoculating substrate from spores? What is the advantage? Looking forward to talking with some of you!

Yeah, spores to lc, lc to new syringe, lc with syringe to substrate, I am not sure about the speed, but one obvious advantage would be taking one syringe and making it into many.

This seems like a good idea....I was thinking of using a syringe to innoc some more pf cakes but i think i will use it to make some LC...then maybe spawn to some WBS....you thoughts?
I;m a beginner so this looks like a good method...would anyone change anything in this process? I have some puerto rican i think so i think it would be a good idea.
anyway these posts are awesome and i don't know where i'd be if it werent for these

Woah, i've never seen sunflower seeds left in WBS before, looks like it went ok! Did it end up colonizing into the seeds?
