Setting the Timer for my Ultrasonic (Martha)...

reccomended settings? i've heard a few, i forgot them all. love to hear em again.
consider this though. my cheapy GE timer goes in 30 min increments. this is cool. but it has to stay on for 30min @ at time, minimum.
how many times a day, how far apart, however you wanna say it.

whats your humidity at without the ultrasonic?
i'd have it kick on at about 80% humidity, off after a half-hour. if that doesn't put you over 95% then use that, have it off until it hits 80% again.
if you go over 95% with that, i'd say get a new timer or hook up another cool mist impeller.
give us some more info on your set-up and readings.

You should only have to have it on once or twice a day. I only have mine go on once a day to keep my cassing layer moist make sure you have a coolmist with the impeller on 24/7.

here's the thing. right now my Martha is full of 90-100% colonized jars that were getting so dry the cakes were cracking (like dry skin, ya know?) from the low humidity and dry air here... i'm running the cool mist on them but i've been turining it off here and there. i can't really give ya an accurite reading right now. the jars put off their own atmosphere which would be different than an empty martha of one full of poo casings.
either way, i have both the cool mist AND the ultrasonic already hooked up and i know i'll use it. even if i have to put the cool mist on a timer too.
i know i'm gonna have to monitor and calibrate everything for optimum humidity...
just wondered what the rule of thumb was. ie, on for 30 min = off for X:XX hours...

well if ya can kick it down to 15 min every hr. or even every 2 hrs. would do.....
but spend $28 and get the Vicks cool miist impeller type from Walgreens/Jewel Osco.

best idea i have ever done... other than LC's
24 hr. operation.... quiet,
and 1.5 gal resivoir. only have to fill mine every 4-5 days.

oatman, you should glue that thing up to block escape of back pressure from the resistance of using a hose. my cool mists had a lot of air escaping from the seams; you should check yours out. you can put a piece of pvc in through the side and fill through that. then you can use an end cap to close it off when not filling. i use rubber stoppers for erlenmeyer flasks and fill with a hose from a water jug. mix h202 and water in jug and then dispense.

i use the Vicks V420
and i've been trying to pimp it to everyine else
FREE ADVERTIZING FOR VICKS!!! (but only for making those WONDERFUL inhalers that helped me develop a strange fixation on mentholated air while using ecstacy)
this one is perfect (for a cool mist) the filter is in the back of the motor housing and is easily removable. the fill channel is in the front of the motor housing and you can fill the basin w/o even touching the humidifier.
ppl talk shit on this one because it leaks like a re-used condom that's why they made duct tape.
mine is totally sealed, and doesn't leak a fucking drop. it's DAMN NEAR silent (easily 10 times quiter than a Sunbeam) and i didn't even have to cut any holes to hook up the hose to it.
i already have my Vicks cool mist AND my Ultrasonic. i guess i was just worried about my timer only going in 30min intervals.

oh, and for the scrutinizers and skeptics...
the fill channel runs into a tube that runs down almost to the bottom of the reservoir, so NO air/mistcan escape from the fill channel.
