What spore race to order?

Greetings everyone --

I have grown the PF cubenis strain in the past with the PF tek with great success.

However, I want to do something different. I am interested in using the Hawk's birdseed method with the 50/50 casing tek.

The question is -- what spore race should I order?

I want to buy one of the sporeworks cubenis strains. Which of these strains will produce decently potent shrooms under the growing conditions I want to use?

wutup tullycraft,
you said you grew THE pf cubensis strain. well, there's MANY strains of p.cubensis. some are good for potency, some are good for fruiting, some yield a lot..etc. if i were you, i'd go to www.lilshopofspores.com. blushroom (the guy in charge) is mad cool and will help you out whenever you need it. i suggest either the puerto ricans or PESA strain for potency. also, for the 50/50 casing tek, you can use jiffy mix or coco coir instead of that, because they have adjusted pH levels which are better. in order to get the same results using 50/50, you have to add stuff like lime flour and some oyster shit and it's jus more inconvenient. of course, with the jiffy mix and coco coir, you still have to moisten and sterilize the casing mix. arite take it easy, hope this helped. shroom on.

I think spoeworks carries the B+ strain, it is very popular.

Oyster shells are used to make the fruits more robust. It adds calcium to the nutrient absorbtion in mycelium. I read that in many teks. So, you still should put that in casing no matter wat.

my $0.02: i had quite a merry christmas with my thailand lipa yai's :wink:.  very intense body high that just kept creepin' up on you for hours.  not many visual hallucinations, however the experience was incredible.  i dosed 2.7 grams fully dried.

Greetings:

I wanted to thank everybody for your helpful suggestions. I really appreicate it. I am going to go for the Jiffy mix idea and add calicum carbonate to it. I am going to go for the puerto rican cubenis strain from sporeworks. From what I've gathered, they will grow well under the conditions I plan to use.

It's not a strain, it's a specie, a tiny mushroom about as strong as cubensis, depending on which study you want to look at.

For your efforts, I would stick with cubensis as they are a much larger mushroom.

Those pans are no stronger than cubensis and tiny. I'll take cubensis anyday!

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to discourage people from trying it. I highly endorse the experimentation with other species, it's how one learns about mycology. I pick and photograph dozens of species here on Mt. Elphie.

And the Pan cams are a potent shroom, as much as cubensis, but a lot smaller. Claims such as 'size means nothing', are a personal opinion, not fact.

i've grown cubensis, and pan trops, the pans are much stronger, i grow both myself. if i eat 4 grams cubensis dry i have a great time, i eat 4 grams dry of pans i can't walk!

Pan Cyanscens and Pan Cambodginiensis are both far more potent than Psilocybe Cubensis. I know this from personal experience and I can prove it.
Both these Panaeolus species require only about 2 grams dried to give a near level five experience - whereas Cubensis usually requires 5 grams plus for a level five type experience. That is why they are called bluemeanies.
The basic difference [in potency (edit)] between Pan.Cyan and Pan.Cambo is the relative levels of Psilocybin and psilocin. Pan Cyans have a stronger level of psilocybin and less than pan cambo which has higher levels of psilocin. Maxima from Stamets:
' Pan Cyanscens: Moderately potent. .71% psilocybin - .04%psilocin and .01%baeocystin
Pan Cambodginiensis: .55% psilocybin - .60% psilocin
Psilocybe Cubensis: .50% psilocybin - .25% psilocin and/or .63% psilocybin - .11% psilocin'

Ralphster - Id have to say that Ps.Cyanescens (wavycaps) are a bit more potent than pans. Maxima from Stamets:
'Psilocybe Cyanescens: 1.68% psilocybin - .28% psilocin
Psilocybe Azurescens: 1.78% psilocybin - .38% psilocin
and .35% baeocystin
Psilocybe Semilanceata: 1.12% - 2.37% psilocybin - .36% baeocystin.'

Anyway - go with tassie cubensis as they are soo easy to fruit and colonise.

I think you will find few cubensis that have the visuals that the PF's have, but the eq's, the maz's and the puerto's are right up there too. I think they have syringes for those.

The Pan./Cop. cyanescens, tropicalis, cambodginiensis are the most potent shrooms that can be grown INDOORS, with minimal effort. Yields are drastically reduced compared to cubensis. You will get more doses from a casing of cubensis then from a casing of Pan./Copelandia's even with the increased potency. Copelandias are the gourmet psychedelic mushroom for indoor cultivation. If yields, quantity of trips, and ease of spore printing are your priority, stick with the cubensis.

Personally, I would rather have a ounce of Copelandia's then a quarter pound of cubensis, if I could only have one or the other. The wonderfull thing about it is, you don't have to choose, you can have both.

If you live in a Cold climate, you can even get into setting up outdoor beds of the most potent shrooms in the world . But for all the tropical folks on the OMC, it doesn't get any better then the COPELANDIAS. Easy, fast, potent!!!!!!!

Ease of growth from multispore directly into substrate. EQUADOR
If you isolate on agar, GOLDEN TEACHER from sporeworks, ease of growth, and speed is unbeatable.
LIPA YA's from Hawk are the best of the TAIS in this opinion, very beatuiful shrooms and good size, easy to pin, NEEDS GOOD AIR EXCHANGE TO MATURE.
CAMBODIANS are very MEATY shrooms, and large size, but NEEDS VERY GOOD AIR EXCHANGE.

My Favorite is Isolated Strains of the Sporeworks GT. It is impossible to fuck up. Casing to Maturity(spore drop) 13 days. I have not found one quicker then that in any of the Strains(spore races) I have tried. It will fruit in a sealed box with ZERO air exchange, except to maybe mist every once in a blue moon. It is an abundant pinner, but not too many that it takes away from size. Less then 1% aborts. This is the best in my OPINION, for cubensis.

Results will vary from grow set-up to grow set-up. I don't think there are many out there with as MINIMAL a set-up.
