Have any of you tried to do a party levitation?

Do you know what I'm talking about? Where someone sits in a chair and four people can lift them with just their index fingers? Or the one where someone lies down?
To go more in depth, I've only heard of two styles, and I've heard from people that they've succesfully done both. I've heard many explanations of how it could work too, for instance...
One where a person sits in a chair, and two males and two females stand at the corners of the chair, with the person sitting facing west. This would leave the four lifters aligned with the cardinal directions. This is important for the physics to supposedly work out, where each lifter's magnetic fields creates a "Bloch Wall" where the person in the chair is, which results not only in a negation of their own field, but exerts a force straight up as well. Another explanation I've heard is that it just perfectly distributes the weight between the four people that they are able to lift with only their index fingers. But they would feel SOME weight, this supposedly makes them feel no resistance at all.
Anybody tried that?
Or what about the one where someone lies down and the others chant "Light as a feather, stiff as a board" over and over and can lift the person easily? I've heard an explanation of "group psychosis" and "hypnotic suggestion" and all this other stuff. I guess the key is that people are trying to EXPLAIN it, and not simply deny that it works, so it must work to some extent. I don't know?
Anyone tried that one?
Fill me in on any stories you've got, experiences you've had with this yourself, or any info or links! Thanks, I hope this one can make for a good conversation.

We used to do that in school (the lieing down one) with 6 people. 6 people can lift one person easily I don't think there's anything out of the ordinary about it.

Oh yeah, I don't doubt 6 people could lift one person. The whole thing is that it is supposed to be effortlessly done. No resistance or weight felt by any of the lifters. It supposedly should be no harder than the lifting of the arm itself, and the lifting is done only with the forefingers.

It works! I tried it when I was younger... 5 people, one chair. 4 people practice visualizing the chair as lighter, weightless, as air.. four people focus. Four people lift chair with index finger(person sitting in chair) It only works if everyone is focused Only one way to find out

where do you find the type of people that would try this?
"Hey do you want to try to levitate?" "........................................... I have to go now, sorry."

When I was about 10 years old my older sister and a group of her friends levititated me. That was a long time ago but I still have a vivid memory of it and I was lifted in the air effortlessly. The realy strange thing about it was that while I was up in the air, for a period of a couple seconds, I could see their hands. No one was touching me.
It is some wierd shit and I believe in it wholeheartedly.

That is crazy! The power of kids is real( and seems to diminish as physical strength starts to develop). I doubt adults could do this feat. Four average guys, one 250 pound guy in a chair. Four index fingers to lift him... Is this possible by physical means of the humans muscular system? If not it would prove the idea of levitation by focused thought. As far as who to ask... friends.

It's possible physically, I actually just saw a video of an old Chinese man stand with almost all of his weight on one index finger. He was barely leaning up on a wall. Here is a link if anyone is interested: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/videos/fingermaster.html
