I recently decided to try to grow my first batch of shrooms. I have the cakes in the perlite and they're 100% white, but they've been like that for a couple weeks. They haven't started growing little hairs or anything, and there certainly haven't been any pins. WHAT DO I DO???????????? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm following the Magic Mushrooms Growing Guide v3.2
I have four totally white cakes in a plastic box that's taped shut and aired out twice a day. I keep the humidity and temperature in the safe ranges. I spray water sometimes and the cakes are sitting on tinfoil with holes on top of perlite. What am i doing wrong????!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing. Patience is a virtue.
Ack! I misread weeks as days. My bad.
Depending upon the age of the spores, it can take up to a month before you see signs of growth... though my friend has never had it take more than two weeks. I posted a lengthy answer of possible problems to an identical question just a few days ago, do a search.

Humidity is too low. It should be 95-100%.

perlite works great, and its cheap and simple. it can sometimes be a bit messy though. I have yet to use a humidifier but if and when i do it will be cool mist, helps with air exchange as well as humidifies

Dude,
Listen to Anno.
Your humidity is too low.
Get your humidity up into the high 90's or 100%.
You might want to inject 10cc of water into the cakes.
Since they might have started drying out in the low humidity.
And start fanning them.
Good luck!

I have a good idea for you chapstick. Use a light drill, wipe the bit with alcohol. Drill a hole in the center of your cake(s). Just about 2/3 the way down. Oh yeah, make sre your drill bit is the same diameter as a plastic straw, like a McDonalds straw. then cut the straw to about 4 1/2 inches and stick it into the hole. You can deliver water to the center of the cake via the straw with a syringe. Use mineral water. That works for me to speed it up a bit. Just dont get anxious. Sometimes it takes a little time. Ane you may want to add a bubbler to your terrarium. There is a tek for that. PM me and I will fill you in if interested. Hope that helps.
