cubensis cold shocking
    #522368 - 01/16/02 11:46 AM (22 years, 2 months ago)

I keep reading in post that cubensis doesn't require cold shocking to innitiate pinning. I've had cakes in my terrarium for about 12 days at 70 degees and no pinning. Should I cold shock? Like I said in earlier post I have little stringy strands reaching out about 5mm. Are these primodia? They are bright white. Also if the moisture 'is' too high, will that keep the cakes from pinning?

Having a high rh (relative humidity) might cause the "little stringy strands" to grow out, if you mist, stop for a day, and dont fan your terrarium. Just shut everything down and forget about it for a day or two, and then come back and see whats going on with your boys. 12 days does sound like a long time but perhaps your cakes are just getting ready to deliver the mother load? We can hope anyway ;)

This thread has been closed.

Reason:
You don't want to cold shock tropical species.  It's time for this thread to die in peace.
