I would find it very challenging to survive on my own under those circumstances. While I have lived through circumstances many would consider difficult, I have not spent time "roughing it" in the wilderness.
My experience with killing animals has been limited to small insects. (Well, those Tomato Hornworms I pulled off my tomato plants were pretty big. ) I have never prepared a freshly-killed animal for consumption, though I can bone a chicken breast swiftly and thoroughly. I'm a good shot with a rifle, handgun, bow, and slingshot, but all my targets were inanimate.
I could manage water, as I live in an ancient floodplain riddled with creeks, lakes & rivers. I'd boil the hell out of it before I drank it, though.
Dealing with aggressive looters and crazies is my biggest worry. As a woman with two young sons, I would be very vulnerable in the chaos which would ensue prior to martial law being initiated. I would stay in my house as much as possible, and (if I was without my dear Icelander) would probably ask friends to stay with us. (Safety in numbers.)

It's nice to be able to throw out some numbers but I reckon both sets are way too high.
But as I said this is all in good fun.

I would handle it. I would have no choice. I am a wilderness survival nut who can make make a fire, make bows and arrows, knap flint, identify food plants, gather water in desert areas, fish, and hunt. Hell, I can identify hallucinogens in nearly any ecosystem, and I practice shamanism...I am all set. I prefer to have a computer handy, though. So, when the apocalypse rolls around I'll just say I'm not interested.

A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Would any of those friends happen to be any of the beauty's that have graced your Sig? If so, I think I'll head North!

Yes! All of them. They are the Shamanic warriors I speak of. We are in need of some male balance. I am having a hard time keeping them all satisfied. I'm getting too old for this shit. Shapper, HELP!

I changed my mind, I think I would be able to survive, because I am a scholar of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books [and still have my copies of all the volumes]

Anyone ever heard of a school called Teaching Drum. (www.teachingdrum.org) Been seriously thinking about attending, but having a hard time finding references to check against.

Well, as for myself I was in the outdoors at a young age and found a refuge there from a unhealthy home life. Later I became an avid backpacker and then moved up to survival courses and then took to solo roaming in the High Desert. Usually I took little food and so forced myself to use some of the skills I had acquired. Mostly I have learned what is important in the back country as far a modern technology and I carry it. Only the best I can afford will do. You can't afford to save a buck in the back country.
You can learn much of this yourself. Learn to car camp and then backpack. Do it solo. Get used to being in the back country. That's an important thing. Get to feel like it's home. Then there are lots of good books on survival gadgets. Learn to shoot a rifle. A little 22 cal. is an awesome survival tool. It's light and so is the ammo. You can kill a deer with it. But small game will suffice most often.
Then take some quality survival courses to build skills and confidence. Then go practice.( the fun part)
Or something along these lines.

City Slickers know exactly what to do when the power goes out...We loot that mother fucker blind. If that's not survival instinct I don't know what is.

Everyone has a survival instinct. Yet not all survive. I suspect in the big city, you all would end up eating each other.

Anyone who wants a head start would do well to familiarize themselves with Tom Brown's work on survival.
