Hey all
I am new to the whole growing thing but very anxious to get started. I recently ordered The gulf coast strain from hawk eyes. Now I got all the vermiculite, and the brown rice powder that I had planed on using but was then told by someone that this is not a good grow medium. Now I have seen some people suggest using straw or rye grass seed. but that is all the more information they give. I am just wondering what amounts to use and as much detail as possible about how to do it. Also I was wondering if the Pf tek would work with this strain, I hate to ask some one to type me a how to but I am a newbe and flying solo and I don't want to blow it completely by using the wrong stuff.
Thanks in advance

Get yourself some rye flour or millet seeds and substitute these for the BRF

Dude, now that you have the materials, why not try using what you have first? Then move on to other teks...try em out and see what you like and or are most successful with...just my two cents.

just use the PF tek for now...and Gulf coast will work with what you have....you can get dark rye flour from any grocery store and i believe you can get millet seed at a pet store..stick with the basics right now like they said and then move on...I'm still doing the PF tek right now and I'm having pretty good results...I'm planning on movie to casings and what not but I'm pretty pleased with what i have going on now

Do the regular PF tek first, then maybe straw. Lastly try cassing. (Im not the biggest fan of cased trays- they get contanmation from the air easily)

Hey bro if its your first time growing I would just stick with what you got. If you are sucessful then move on to using different substrates after you have a better understanding of the way the process works.
Also as far as the Gulf Coast strain goes it will pan out just fine using the PF tek. You should definately come out on top even on your first try but you must follow directions to the letter and resist the temptation to inavate procedures, (this is for another time).
Good Luck, Hollywood
