I was smoking and thinking about random bits of information that absolutely bear no relevance to my everyday ife, and then got to thinking, how do other countries use the internet?
I have no clue....? Im pretty sure that EVERYONE uses the same internet, as the internet is nothing but a bunch of servers and computers working in juncution. But how would a non-english country go about using the internet? Do they use .com? How about WWW? I want to go to forein websites........

oftentimes english computers won't have foreign character sets pre-installed. so websites with foreign text might appear to be a bunch of question marks.
but, all countries have their own domain - .co.uk (united kingdom), .dk (denmark), .se (sweden), etc...

and dont forget .de (germany), .es (spain)! different countries have different servers, but should all be connected some how, so you can access any server in any country. if its not connected, its probably an intranet. its the same as the phone system...
although, i belief that chinas internet is isolated from teh rest of the world. the chinese cannot access other country servers, and other coutnries cannot access their servers. im not really sure though, thought i read it a while back. think they were trying to get rid of child pornography being brought into china through the internet...

For the most part it would be china trying to keep foreign ideas out of their country, if indeed that is true.
North Korea no longer is connected to the internet, either. North Koreans only have access to a North Korean intranet, which is carefully regulated by the government to make sure that nobody gets any ideas that they do not like. Those who are authorized could access the internet if needed, but the average person can not connect to any internet location outside of North Korea. And I beleive nobody outside of North Korea can connect to a site that isn't one of the ones the party has made available to the public.
It's essentially to make sure that the only thing people there can see about their country is glowing, flowery praises of the communist party.
