I gotta post my favorite damn album ever here:

Here is a BitTorrent link to the .zip file for the entire album. It's called A Night at the Hip-Hopera. The fastest way I could describe it is like rap laid over the instrumentals to Queen songs. And it fucking works WELL!!! I listened to the album front to back in the latter phases of an acid trip, and it was like a fucking audiovisual journey through a world of artistry, activism, and a plea in favor of file sharing and digital freedom. It's also just a fucking AWESOME mashup album just on its own right.

Or maybe I was just really tripping, or something. Give it a judge.

Direct links Here.

Here.

Here. (And includes sample list if you're interested)

Here.

Enjoy!

Personally I don't really enjoy HipHop because the aesthetic is antithetical to my world view and the state of mind that tripping puts you in.

Now I realize that I'm generalizing a bit here, I do enjoy some HipHop, just not the stuff that's all "MONEY" "GUNS" "BITCHES" "WEED" "I WILL DESTROY [insert enemy HipHop artist here] WITH MY LYRICAL SKILL"...

Skimmed through and didn't see anyone mention DELTRON 3030.
Pretty much the only rap I can listen to tripping, and Kid Cudi's older stuff.
A Tribe Called Quest, Blackalicious, Zion I are all decent.

Oh and Spice 1 has a real wholesome vibe... Good family fun.

no one mentioned Quasimoto?

his first album 'The Unseen' was reportedly recorded during a week-long Shroom binge..lots of great jazz sampling, strange vocals (the producer's name is Madlib, he alternates the vocals with his high pitched alter-ego Quasimoto) and long comedy clips and movie samples. great stuff.

why is it that most people that trip do not like hip hop. Since i think psychonaughts are the most open minded people i wonder why no one ever mentions hip hop as there music of choice.

To me trippin is really insightful and after each experience something is learned, or gained. Without the use of hip hop music during these trips i would say that the trips would not have been anything close to what they had been.

Dont get me wrong, im not talkn about the crap u hear on the radio constantly, im talkn about true hip hop. Music that has meaning, not just about the drugs u sold, the cars u drive, or the women you fuck, but about real issues.

Hears a couple songs i think everyone should give a listen too....listen to the beat, the words, everything....
u wont be disapointed!

Nas - Rest of My Life
Nas - The Message
Nas - What goes around
Immortal Technique - Dance with the devil
Immortal Technique - You Never Know
Cannabis - Channel 0 (zero)
Eminem - Rock Bottom
Eminem - Till I Collapse
Eminem - Soldier
The Roots - You Got Me
The Roots - Break You Off (instrumental)
Lil' Wayne - Shooter **one of the trippiest songs i heard in a while*
Lil' Wayne - Walk In
Mobb Deep - Quiet Storm
Notorious B.I.G. - Your Nobody Till Somebody Kills You

AT LEAST GIVE NAS A CHANCE AND LISTEN TO SOME OF HIS SONGS

Oh these are also good weed smokn songs too..

Immortal technique has some of the best music. Listen to Caught in a Hustle or Leaving the Past. Some good music right there.

Poetry to music , enabling hip hop being able to get messages out like no other genre of music , through lyrical content that is , other genres do such things through feel of music .

Anyhow Hip hop is originally one of the most truthful conscious genres of music ,and it still is only artists that are portraying such things are underground and because they have to market themselves opposed to that bullshit egotistical shit on the radio not everyone gets a chance to hear it.

anyhow suss this out , if you are on this site more then likely you will like these songs/these artists even if you are not a hip hop fan as of yet.

well, that is why I said "most". :smirk: the definition or essence or the hiphop movement just had a quite distorted representation in the first half of this thread. there are loads of good tracks here, dont get me wrong. I was trying to say that what many consider hiphop here they heard on the mainstream radio and that simply aint right. you wont hear proper tracks on mtv anymore fellas. or perhaps we never really did.? ranting... sorry

some melancholy tracks here with the heavy mental

oh sorry dude, i didn't mean to direct that at you intentionally. just saying. i love hip hop and love sharing music with other people.

but i agree, alot of people just stereotype it all as 'rap' or 'hip hop'. but unfortunately this kind of stereotype happens with lots of genres. i.e. metalheads calling all electronic music 'techno' when really there is many sub-genres. and vice verse for EDM fans calling it rock/metal etc.

Let me do a little bit of digging through my collection, i'll try and find some good stuff.

Rhyme Asylum - Life Support

Cunninlynguists - What'll You Do?

Bliss N Eso - Bullet & A Target feat. The Connections Zulu Choir
