can u pressure cook for too long?

sometimes when i pressure cook wbs, some jars look darker than others. the darker ones tend to look drier also. is it possible to burn the wbs when you pc for too long. i pced for a lil over an hour. after i noticed the dark seed i went down to 40mins. or do the darker wbs have less water content and are burning in the pc. i'd appreciate the responses.

An hour is too much for pcing I believe. Your wbs get caramelized. I doubdt whether this is good. An hour is enough for sterilizing even with an ordinary pot, not a pc.

PCing WBS for 1 hour is minium. If you pc'ed 60-90minutes, your fine...

it will dry out the substrate, if pced for too long.

It depends on the PC & what you have in it.

AA 941 sterilizer (any AA with the old school toggle relief valve) does not lose steam or moisture. You can PC wbs/grains 5 hours - if you want, without moisture loss.

I PC 3 hours - when it's FULL of bags & nada problem.

thanks... i got a presto 6qt pc. i was a lil short on money so i had to go with the small one. it sucks because i can only do 1 qt jar at a time. its freakin annoying.

i think im going to stay between 40-60mins because i havent had any contams with that. thanks again!
