Agar culture questions.

I'm about to start my first agar work.
I have found malt extract and dextrose cheap from local brewery shop.
Agar Agar was the most expensive ingredient. I now have four questions which I haven't found answers for.

1. What kind of yeast should one use if doing the MYA (Malt Yeast Agar) media or the PDYA (Potato, Dextrose, Yeast) media?
Will normal yeast used for baking suffice or I use some brewers yeast?

2. Which of dextrose or maltdextrine is best to use?

3. The only agar agar I found was from an health food store and it is in flake form.
On the package it says that 15grams should be added to 1 liter of water.
All recipes states 9 or 10 gram and I think this agar agar is not that high grade.
Since I'm new to this with agar work I wonder if this will do or if I should order some online?

4. I will try an small batch of media and see. But I have no references. How firm does the media get when cooled down?

1. brewers yeast. No need IMHO just use your malt extract alone.
2. I think dextrose, maltodextrin is added to wines and doesnt ferment, i.e. yeast doesnt like it so I guess myc wont either.
3. it is fine, 10 or 15g, the recipies are for hard jello
4. a bit softer than jello, some prefer hard, some soft, its all good.

The recipes state 9 or 10 gram per 1/2 liter!

This is ~20 g per liter.
