Incubator Temp Fluctatuation

Apart from a heat bomb (that only seems to be geting my incubator to 80-81 degrees) i setup a light bulb underneath in order to bring heat up. Once in a while, the heat gos up a loittle over 86 to about 88-89 for a few minutes untill it stabalizes at 85-86. Is this a bad thing? Will it slow the process down?

yah, i agree. But i will point out going to 89 degrees for a min or two wont hurt them. But using a lightbulb to warm your incubator can be a bad thing, you're ok at 81 degrees, keep in mind that your jars generate a little heat themselves.

I think you have your probes backwards. If your running the TIT the water will probably be somewhere around 90 to keep the upper tub in the mid 80's. How long have your jars been in there?

If you do have them probes backwards and your reading 119f* in the tub, then your screwed!

The inside temp of the tub, where you have the jars is where I thought you said you were measuring temps. Your water will most always be hotter than the inside of the tub. If the inside temp was 119 then your screwed. 2 Days though isn't long enough for you to see germination though, typically you should see signs of growth in about 3-5 days from a multispore inoculation. Fix you temps inside and wait a few more days before trashing and starting over.
