LC to LC?
    #5192698 - 01/17/06 08:48 PM (18 years, 1 month ago)

Is it possible to use a few cc's from a finished Liquid Culture, to start a new LC?

the mycelium just keeps grows off of the new nutrients in your new LC.

I do it all the time, I am doing a bit of a test right now. I am convinced that LC in the beggining stages of growth causes far more vigourous growth than older LC, I have a few LC's that are not proving viable in the last few months, they are stored at about 65F. I have injected a non-viable one (on grain) into a fresh culture and will inject once I see evidence of new growth (if any).

Also I am going to try out "starter cultures", you inject the spores into a tiny amount of LC to get a start. I think the spores get lost in a large LC and cannot find a mate, you put them in a shallow LC and the spores get good air exchange and are concentrated. Once visible you inject into a bigger jar. This is done in commercial LC setups, it is also done when cultivating yeast for brewing beer/wine.
