Straight Verm Casing for bulk horse poo grow

I was wondering if a straight verm casing for a 5 lb. tenn. stud horse poo grow would be sufficient. Also, the verm may have to be horticultural grade because that's all ive seen so far. The grow is going to be done in a medium dish tub inside a larger rubbermaid tub. I also read that a casing layer is not always needed with bulk horse poo grows, because the moisture level maintains pretty well with manure.

straight vermiculite is a little too dense, mix it with ground sphagnum/peat moss or coco coir

yea i like peat but make sure to use a ph buffer

If you can get your hands on some Jiffy Mix, you will not be disapointed. It is a mixture of verm, peat, and lime to buff the pH for you. Nothing but great results with this stuff on top of some colonized poo.

i used straight verm for my hpoo/straw bulk grow and the only complaint i have is it's hard to see if it's wet or dry. besides that, it's been a great casing material.
