I have never heard anything concrete (besides a friends friends uncles cousin who was in 'Nam but this happened in Beirut kinda thing)
I would be incredibly interested in a conversation with an animal. Hmmm, now I want to trip with an animal present...

i certainly feel that i understand animals better when i'm tripping, but that could easily be just an illusion. as for the animals, they always seem to act normally when i'm tripping.

a dog going crazy for 20 minutes is no longer an illusion. animals really have a sixth sense. dogs and cats usually go nuts before an earthquake or something else bad is about to happen. i don't have personal experience with animals going crazy. the only time i encountered two dogs while i was tripping they didn't seem to be interested in us at all. but then again, it wasn't my own pet. i do think that they can tell something is 'wrong'. my dog knows when she's gonna be alone for a while, all sad and stuff. it tends to behave different when I'm angry too. anyone else had any experience with this?

yes animals knows when u trip, i have no doubts. my dog is always with me when i trip in nature. she is well trained but acts diffrent when i trip, like she is looking out for me diffrently. also once i met a wild fox on shrooms and the fox was not afraid. i gave it water and we were 1 meter apart. we looked at eachother for a long time. then i just knew, like i was told with no voice, it would run off, and the next second it ran away.

I've encountered my dog twice while tripping, and it did indeed go a little crazy. I sat down to pet it and it kept jumping up on me and play bitin my hand and stuff, which is never does.
The first time it happened I was scared my dog was gonna tell my parents, but when I got up and walked away, I came back and spied on it for a sec, and it went back to normal, just chillin in its bed thing.

Animals tend to be able to read body language/etc alot better. I also think they can sense energy/etc. When on Psychedelics, your body language and energy changes greatly, animals pick up on this - and will start to react differently.
There's been times where I swear my dogs have been able to tell if I'm upset/angry/happy/etc also - and they tend to change their behaviour depending on that.
If I'm angry, they tend to keep away a bit. If I'm sad/upset, they'll come and curl up at my feet and try and comfort me, if I'm happy - they'll be a bit more playful and want to play ball/be petted/etc.

I refuse to do DMT with any pets around. They seem to spot my 'hallucinations' and then chase them off. Its a bit odd and not all that fun to have a dog going nuts and barking at 'things' which by all rights I shouldn't be seeing, let alone the dog! lancifer

I like to have my dogs around me when tripping. They are a playful pair to begin with, but when tripping they are endless amusement. They do seem to notice that something is up, but they don't care and are happy to just play and share the love.

I have been tripping once with guinea pigs around and twice with a cat. The pigs just did what they always do and I was staring at them as their fur and their movements were fascinating without end. They did not mind a bit. Then the cat. It highly trusts me but I was afraid I could scare it while tripping so at first I wouldn`t let it in. But she was waiting in front of the door and eventually I let her in. She behaved as she always did. I petted her a long while and got the feeling of knowing how to do it the best possible way so she would enjoy it much more than before. It was like a deep understanding of anatomy and the cat`s feelings. I as well loved the fur and the purr and when I stopped she curled up on the bed purring and stayed the rest of the night. Not a single bit of madness or fear. I couldn`t talk to her but felt even more respect and love than I do. The joy of a nice cat on a trip is unbeatable.

scumpi is right. cats (or kittens!) are the best to have around on a trip. they've been pets for over 6000 years and used to be regarded as having part of a spirit of a god by the Egyptians.

Don't freak out your pets... that's just mean. They wouldn't know what the hell was happening to them and would probably get really scared. A scared dog while everyone else is tripping and acting weird sounds like a recipe for a dog bite....

they gotta be old enough as well. and very chill. animals that are too stuck up prolly wouldn't like to trip.

Once on mushrooms I tried to heal my cat and make energy flow through him. He went tottally limp which he never did before or after again. He was like a little furry ragdoll. For a male cat that still has his balls and likes to fight that was beyond odd.
My current cat was tottally vibeing off my roll last night. He was rolling around rubbing on everything... touching his teeth on things purring.
As for talking people do that without tripping I have had my share of talks with various animals/plants/space beings while tripping and not.

While tripping, my dog told me to shut the windows because it was raining. No joke. She started barking out of the upstairs window and I got right next to her to see what she was barking at and my eyes instantly focused on the rain through my open window.

i find dogs really notice when your on acid... they go all placid, submissive and a little shy. You feel as if when they look at you you can communicate sure. The other day coming up on acid i was attempting to clean my kitchen but had so many things to do i couldn't do anything.. my dog actually helped me and showed me what i was supposed to be doing (like showing me my phone when it beeped as i couldn't remember to look at it). Id say he's different around me now. Another time i was on acid at home he acted in the same way. A friend of mine says he has a new found respect for dogs after himself and four friends were all trippin on acid sitting in a circle around this dog who was usually crazy and doesnt stop barking and running around, but was just lying placidly on the ground. He says they all were silent for 5 minutes or so all having a conversation to each other and the dog without speaking - they spoke about it and how weird it was afterwords...
Ive found cats just kinda look at you strange and walk off. Sometimes they seem to try and trip you out but thats pretty much what they do anyways right?

Whenever I am on a solo trip and I want to go for a walk, I take my 2yr. Boxer with me. Walking around the city late at night tripping alone can be a little nerve racking, but I always feel safe with my dog with me. I feel that she can sense that I almost need her help to navigate, haha. Generally she walks at my side, but when I'm tripping she tends to walk ahead of me, looking back every so often to check on me. It's really cool. As for communicating...I don't know, I talk to my dog on a daily basis as I do my friends and I feel that we communicate already through our body language. Maybe the body language communication is enhanced, im not sure. Regardless, dogs are the shit, and I will never live without one.

I am not really sure about this subject but when I read this thread, I immediately smiled and am having a hard time keeping in my laughter.
When a friend and I were tripping, his cat came in the room and this cat is one weird cat. Its extremely jumpy and has no attention span for anything, but also quite playful. However, I have never seen a cat do this before.
I put my hand down to pet let her smell my hand, meanwhile call her name. She came over and started to smell my hand. She got WAY into it. She started to rub her head on it and almost act like I had just given her cat nip. Then, she stopped. She looked up at me, with her mouth wide open. Ive seen cats have their mouths open alittle before, but nothing like this. She left her jaw dropped. Like she just saw a ghost and I was it. She stared right at me with her mouth open and started walking backwards towards the door. When I started to laugh, she bolted out the door, looking behind her right at me.
Whether she sensed I was tripping or not, I couldnt say, but, jesus, it was hilarious.

Lol yes perhaps they know somehow. I was with some friends and I was the only one tripping and we went to this girl's house. I had never been there before but her new puppy runs in and goes straight to me. You know when dogs are little it sometimes seems like they have too much extra skin and fur? Well yea I started petting the puppy and his skin was rippling in waves and looked like liquid. It was so cool to watch so I just kept petting. Then her mom came in to meet everyone and I started to be really evasive cuz my pupils were the size of baseballs and I had a goofy grin plastered on my face. Fun times though, I would like to see animals more while tripping.

Yeeaah. Love those animals.
They are a part of us, that is for sure.
Just thinking about how they can sense are peak of a magical poison, are racing minds...just makes life worth living.
I fuckin love cats. Got a trippy little white furred buddy named Chester.
I came home in the middle of the night, on one of those at the friends/drunk off my ass, not respecting the shroom and my body, and diving into the land of the weird.
Trying to sleep in my room, trying to fight the demon. I hear my buddy meow outside my bedroom door.
I remember thinking of not letting Chester experience such an evil, witch craft festival, but something told me it would be alright.
And it certainly was.
Laying there. Him so full of energy, wanting to play. Roaming around my body, feeling him at my feet than at the end of my elbow within a second...but he moved so slow..it was fuckin trippy..especially wit the kind of battlefield still slowly slipping away.
The best part of it, was when he layed down beside my head. I closed my eyes, and had a vibrant, clear picture of him. I suddenly opened my eyes...and there he was, his eyes beamed straight into mine, his jaw dropped (like he saw a ghost kinda thing...kinda like what buddy was saying way back a few posts).
It was fucked at first. Scared the shit outta me. Especially when he soon decided to leave right after that.
I didn't care that I scared him...I was just so excited and overjoyed that my thought had so much energy that he felt it. I'm sure the image was traced with a bunch of other Gods talking to me..but unfortunately the mixture of the booze and the massive consumptions of pot I consumed earlier on that long night, kept me from grasping any connection, on how that image of Chester triggered him to put on such a reaction.
It was amazing. Like life..and are minds.
All illusions that mean something...something that could very damn well be true.

When I first tripped, i had a brand new kitten that was very fighty. It would attack you for no reason, playfully but I knew it would freak me out on shrooms. Locked it in the other room for my first trip, but the 2nd time I let him out when he was older and more laid back. His fur looked awesome, and he just cuddled on my lap the whole time, I don't think he acted any different.
EDIT: He also ate a cap the other day when I was photographing my recent find, little bugger grabbed one and ran off with it. I'm pretty sure it was inactive cope, but it could very well have been an active cube cap. He seemed alright, I had eaten 3 fresh huge buggers so I was freaking out that he was going to die... buit he just laid around all day kind of dazed looking, almost catatonic at times... which is what he does all day anyway.
Regardless, by the end of my trip (8 hours) he was normal, and I'm still not sure if he actually tripped.

I was over at my buddies house one night and we all got some shrooms, we were eating together. We started eating and there were so many people and shrooms that some fell on the ground. The dog ate the shrooms.
Later that night we were all tripping and we remembered that the dog had eaten the shrooms. We all pointed and laughed at the dog, we were in a circle around it. She cowered down and put her tail between her legs, because we were laughing at her.
It was extremely sad, I feel bad, because the dog was ashamed....
That might not have happened though, we were tripping out.....

Deer are some of the most skiddish animals on earth I'd have to say. They will take off if they hear even a twig snap.
However, we found that smoking out in the woods near a stream, just sitting there, deer would come up to us. Within 10 feet. Sober, nothing like that happened. I believe wholeheartedly that they can tell. Basically, they realize that you're "technically" dangerous, but they can tell you're incapacitated enough not to be dangerous. How they do it, I have no idea. Pheromones maybe?

My dogs do the same thing everytime.

i dont know why? but fuck this thread gave me the chillzzz
oh yea, I too have a dog and i noticed that one night, after having shroomed in my basement, I went upstairs to the kitchen where my dog met me from upstairs. He was all excited, came up to me started licking my hands like crazy and rubbing against me, making those whining noises. It seemed like he was just checking on how i was doing, and it looked to me like he was relieved that I was fine. He bascialy just came down to say "hey are you ok? good!! yes! im so happy that you're ok! yay!"
I dunno... i think scientists should start taking hallucinogens more seriously and actually acknoledge that there are many answers to be found VIA mushrooms.
I will also mention that my dog is quite a character... it is very easy to read his emotions. He chastizes me when I get home too late... barks very loudly and sort of yells at me saying "you're late you're late you're late!!".

Man, i mos def noticed a difference in my cats last time i tripped at home. The were hanging all over me and looking me in the eyes a lot more than usual. They like to stare at me a lot in the eyes, but for some reason i felt like they were trying to communicate with me. Maybe it was just because of my 6th tripping sense picking up on shit i normally don't pick up on, but it was a little eery. i actually became a vegetarian a few years ago after tripping with my cats because i couldn't fathom hurting animals anymore. i never realized how much animals feel until that trip, it really changed me.

Last time I tripped was a solo trip with just me and my cat. On the come up my cat decided to come visit me and started rubbing against me and puring. She wouldn't leave and walked right in stride with me when I ventured into the wilderness. It was awesome. Sort of a new companionship I don't know how to explain it. However I came back inside as things were starting to get intense. I put my cat downstairs and went up in my room. She soon decided to pay me a visit and I was in a complete mindfuck. She jumped up on my bed, immediately poofed up and arched her spine, and ran away. I thought that was quiet odd, and the trip actually started to get a little better as I laughed at how she was sensing my bad trip.
Another time a friend and I were tripping out in the woods, this is out in the middle of no where not within 30 miles of any major city, really beautiful spot with numerous streams and the like. We sat down to take a break from walking and lit up a bowl. Within a few minutes a squirrel climbed up on the log we were sitting on and came within a few feet of us. He let out some screeches and a few minutes later another squirrel hopped onto the other side of the log. It was crazy. I fell off the log laughing. Animals are the shit.

Animals are the shit!
This thread is pretty kick ass. I haven't tripped yet around any animals, but after reading this I really want too. I've gotten high around dogs and cats before, but I don't know if they seem to notice it.
Damn I need to get me some pets, FTW!

I tried ayahuasca a few weeks ago, I puked too soon so the trip was not very intense, but I was watching my pet rabbit for part of the time. He looked me in the eyes a lot, and he did this funny dance around this big bouncy ball we got him. It was like he was trying to do a mating dance to seduce me. I don't think rabbits actually have a mating dance, so that couldn't be it, but it was pretty funny at the time.

i believe animals can tell when you trip because your body language and behavior changes and that skrewes up the social structure. about talking to them i already know what my animals say to me but they dont talk i just know them, there behavior and body language. i never feel any more conected to animals when i trip than normal. usually they act weird. and animals usually always like me. its when i roll i always halucinate animals.

I knew a guy who was very close to his border collie, "mans best friend" stylee - and Used to let her lick the tinfoil from LSD laced sugar cubes so that she'd get part of the trip too. She seemed quite eager - I remember lifting an eyebrow at this but he told me that it was okay and the dose wasn't strong. She wasn't forced to do it, it was clearly volentary - and she knew what she was doing.
As for mushrooms & animals - are you familiar with beastiality? I personally think that if you do enough mushrooms (since they make you both a) warped and b) horny) - one could probably make so much of a conection, as it to be expressed on a sexual level.

Beastiality is fucked up dude. Animals aren't made for humans to fuck. Forcing them to fuck you is cruel. I think you just ruined all the positive vibes I was getting from this thread. Thanks!
But anyway, a couple of summers ago my girlfriend and I were tripping at her parent's house while they were out of town. We were pretty much stuck crawling around on the floor while the house melted and breathed around us. Her cat came over and was sort of just observing us from a distance. When we went into the bathroom to play with the mirror the cat jumped up and into the sink! He curled up in the sink while we played with the mirror and just sat there purring. In my experience I don't think I've ever seen a cat get in the sink (most of them, including this one, hate water), much less curl up and start purring in there!
I think he was trying to comfort us somehow because later that night my trip turned into a sort of nightmare trip.

I was skeptical about tripping-with-pets stories - reckoned it was just people noticing their pets' behaviour more/interpreting it differently... but my cat's been noticeably more affectionate since I spent some of my last trip with her, and i've had this cat for almost 10 years. Usually she's only friendly when she's hungry, but just now she came over and acted all friendly when i was playing the guitar, rubbed herself all over it and then sat and watched me play... and she's just eaten. bizarre...
Now i'm guessing it has something to do with how you act more instinctively/simply while you're tripping. People's behaviour must be pretty baffling to animals usually, the way we think and rethink things and the way our moods are affected by nothing they can see. Maybe they get our body language better when we're responding more basically to stuff around us? who knows...

Animals communicate using energy. They have millions of years of experience reading and understanding energy. We have the same, but have given up a vast majority of it in exchange for modern language. This is a very simple concept...
