Man, Nelson has a wicked city centre, probably 5 blocks high about 3 blocks long... lots of conscious cafes, art gallerys, the BEST Co-op grocer ever, lots of organic food, fair trade stuff, hand crafted artisan stuff, and bustling city centre of conscious friendly people willing to take you in, or accept you, understand and jam out. It sits right on Kootney lake in the valley of HUGE lucious green mountains. Its all old style architecture and they are revitalizing and recrafting some of the big old buildings downtown, all the houses are old and fixxed up and very nice - there is a handful of other communities around the same size scattered along the mountains in all directions.

there's some wicked concerts/mountainbiking/parties upthere...

Thats actually a bit cheaper than Portugal,
although I doubt the cost of living and taxes match the cheapness of Portugal.

Its just really hard researching all this. I've litterally spent days! Still to no avail...

I just need a cheap place to live - to me that like square one of my life.

At the moment I'm just stuck in a horrible rat race - just another pawn in the game.

first off, most of those prices are bs on that site and most of the "estate agent" sites that you see in regards to property in estonia are not of true value. there are also extra added fees to include when buying a property there, especially if you don't live in the country, thus possibly doubling the amount you'd have to spend.

yeah it'd definately be a crappy house (not even a house..more like 2 pieces of wood propped up together )

Proove that its bullshit.

You sound a little pesamistic to me, double for the fees?

I don't think so - its a small percentage of the total cost!

Of course, you'd need to pay a translator and a good solicitor as well but that wouldn't be thousands.

there have been articles here in finland in regards to searching for property in estonia via the net where it can be a scam or the actual value of the property isn't what it really is. those wanting to invest are highly urged to visit estonia to assest the property themselves, or else they can easily through their money down the drain. i can't prove to you that city24.ee is bullshit, but i'm not surprised if there are properties on there that aren't valued correctly cause it was just posted by someone wanting to post their property and not through a valid estate agent for example.

i'm going ot estonia in 2 weeks time to take a look at some flats in tallinn and from my personal research (though i've only been looking at seaside towns and tallinn) NOTHING has come up that cheap. the cheapest would be for 30,000 euros for a piece of shit flat.

just going through the city24.ee site, take a look at this:

flat

?ldpind: 51.5 m?
Hind: 435 000 kr
Koguhind: 435 000 kr
(?30,000 approx not inc. fees)

yuck...and it's way more than that property you said you can get for much cheaper...
