um id use a garbage bag for starters. much stronger. and u don't need light comming in from all side. often causes srooms to be confused adn not grow upwards. i think it would be easyer to just take a cardboard box and line with plastic. the trouble is really the lid. how to keep it tight but also not get effed up each time u open.
just spend the 6 bucks and get a plastic tub.

Sure, it would work fine. Lot of invested time, though. Can't find a plastic tub at thrift store or garage sale? Terrariums make good fruiting chambers, but good fruiting chambers don't have to be terrariums. You just need the top to be translucent with external light, or an internal light. To stop the air exchange when the fan isn't on, just hang a piece of saran wrap/tin foil in front of it.

why bother? you can get an adequate chamber for pretty much nothing.

galvanized wire is toxic, you'd be better off using plastic tubs as people said, if metal is the choice you want, go with something the food industry must use, stainless. It's expensive but it's really resistant oxydation and corrosion

Nah, shrooms won't uptake the excess zinc. But I wouldn't continue to use galvanized wire. A common method here in the (semi) rain forest to keep moss from growing on our roofs is to tack a strip of galvanized flashing to the peaks of our roofs. The minute amount of zinc washed off this exposed flashing by the rain is enough to prevent moss from growing. It may be a detriment to shrooms as well.
