My buddy has used BRF before and wants to try out dark rye flour cause he hears it's better, but he needs to know if you use the same amount of dark rye flour as you would BRF when mixing up your jars?

To your question Shogun, the answer is yes. To LucidChu, a pressure cooker is very helpul as it almost eliminates contam's 100% of the time if done properly. However, if using PF tek you can get away with boiling in a large pot with a lid though the PC is highly recommended. Peace

My friend is planning on using hip's tek where you put the rye and verm in an oven bag, then cook it for 45 at 250F, let it cool then inject the spores. Anyone have success with this method? Also, in the description it says nothing about adding water to bags after you've steriled them, isn't this required? How did you peeps who've tried this way before do it? One last thing.. the dude at the health store only had rye flour, it didn't say light or dark, would this work or should my friend keep looking for specifically "dark" rye? Thanks for the replies

First off i've never used an oven to sterilize so I can't offer advice on that particulary. However, you shouldn't have to add water to bags after they're sterilized because moisture should not be lost during the sterilization process if in a sealed bag (which I'm assuming they are). As for the flour, flour comes in light, medium, and dark. They will all work, just that Dark Rye is exceptionally good. If the bag just says Rye Flour it don't waste your time, go look for Dark Rye and be sure. But as I just said, if you wish, all of them will work as long as they are organic etc... Peace out
