Cow poo + Pasta + Dried blood substrate test.
    #5179416 - 01/14/06 07:43 AM (19 years, 7 days ago)

I have 300g of well aged cow maure which is soaked so there is barely a drop of water coming out. I have 1000g of pasta quills (2 inch tubes). I have added 30g of dried blood and all of the manure to 1 litre of water and will cook the pasta in that. Some people have grown on pasta in the past with success, usually cooking in excess water and draining. This is being cooked in little water so no nutrients will be lost, the thick manure tea should get deep into the pasta. If I was to cook the pasta, drain and mix with the manure it would be on the outer surface only.

I am adding it to a 4.5litre fermentation jar and steaming, jar weighs 1965g. I mixed the perfect amount, it is up close to the neck of the jar. I have put silicone sealant around the neck and put a bit of sponge/polyfil in the neck, I will pass the needle through and inject LC. It is still shakeable and is nice and airy.

Could you explain the blood meal that you are using and why...

I know there is something to it but have no knowledge of it...

Bloodmeal is for nitrogen. Here is a picture of the manure/pasta mix.

I finally injected this with some old LC, I wasnt expecting much and thought the LC maybe dead, but 1 1/2 days on and it is full of growth. Some growth at the bottom doesnt look good though, dotted white spots. It is growing equally well on the manure and exposed pasta. I just hope it doesnt turn green. I put in about 100ml of SA LC. If my LCs get contamed they usually form a green topping at the surface, this jar is quite old maybe 2 months and was brimming with myc.
