The Beacon Street Collection

Before Tragic Kingdom, before thier self titled debut in the mid '90s...there was the Beacon Street Collection. Before L.A.M.B and the Harijuku girls....No Doubt used to rock the fuck out.
They were something a little different. A new skool rock band with an old skool ska sound. They had talent, they were original. With tracks like Trapped in a Box, Ache, Something a Little Refreshing...it was all about the music.
SO WHAT HAPPENED?
Ego? Fame? Gwen branches out all on her own and all she can come up with is this bazooka bubblegum. It's so catchy and sweet but it just gets all stale in your mouth after you chew it for 2 minutes.
Will No Doubt ever work together again? Even if they did...whatever they come up with won't be as good as the Beacon Street Collection.

No. Her new stuff pales in comaparion to her old stuff that actually had character, personality. Anyone could sing that stupid song. She doesn't even use her voice in that entire album.
She has soul...she had spirit inside her...and not once on that entire waste of music does it come out.

Well, she looks real good in the video. I guess that's why I like the song.

I don't blame her really, she's just trying to make that paper.
