Pressure and anxiety
    #5172311 - 01/12/06 02:01 PM (18 years, 1 month ago)

Maybe this belongs in the health forum and a mod can move it if they want. I thought to put it here because the people who come here like to work with changing beliefs for personal use and growth.

Thinking about how limitations can serve and not serve, and the left right brain functions, I got to thinking about applying it to anxiety and pressure.

I think we experience pressure, when we put ourselves under tight and restrictive thoughts and beliefs. That said, we have the power of control to change which ever thoughts and beliefs are to tight and we can push them back a bit until we feel relief.

With anxiety, it is experienced when thoughts and beliefs go beyond realistic boundaries. People start freaking themselves out with all of these what ifs that are highly unlikely to happen and get anxious that they will. We can relieve ourselves from the anxiety by tightening up all of those loose and random thoughts that are out of the bounds of being realistic probabilities.

Just something to remember if you find yourself dealing with a lot of self imposed pressure or self imposed anxiety. Just a change of some beliefs can release a tight mental grip or help to get a grip on a loose mind. Apply the proper brain hemisphere function to get back in balance. Use the left funtions of ration and reduction logic to get a grip and use the right functions creativity to see more room to move into with a to get relief.

With pressure there is a beleif/s that is too tight and with anxiety there is a beleif/s that is to wild and loose.

:peace:

Very true.

We try to control. We try to predict every possibility/eventuality, although we can't!

Its natural to want to work out what could happen to you - it aids survival. But sometimes it runs away with itself and we want to predict things that we can't.

This leads to worry and thus the state of anxiety.

All those wasted thoughts worrying, could be used up so much more constructively for oneself. Its a fine balance but the over-worrier always ends up dong more mental harm to themselves than good.
