If your food processor burns out from heavy usage, can you simply cook brown rice to its edible form in water only, than add vermiculate, and sterilize? Prepared rice seems to be at a good damp state, and the vermiculate would even absorb moisture if the rice is too damp.. I searched the threads for hours b4 posting. And yes I already know the easy answer is to buy a new food processor.. But im one of thoes guys who would give up quality for price:)

Well, You could go to a drug store and buy a cheap model burr grinder. Burr grinders for Coffee are are so cool for making flour.

when i first tried to grow, i tried growing on JUST brown rice. first, i made some brown rice (i boiling water). i overcooked it purposely, and when i thought it was mushy enough, i placed the pot on an oven rack with the oven on. then, i filled my jars very lightly and innoculated. so simple. i also bombed the house with lysol and all that. i never used vermiculite. and it all worked. after that, i could see why the genius came up with the method of using vermiculite. the rice cakes got real tight and shrunk and dried out easily but i still had mushrooms as long as i kept the cakes nice and moist. and eventually, after about 5-6 flushes, we would throw the cakes in a blender with orange juice and drink up, no straining or anything....just chunky orange juice drinks.
