ok my basic set up all for under 200$ im going wth 2 containers and a aquarium heater for a incobator...thanks all for the advice....but about the perlite.......this is my set up:

--------------------------=top container/1/2 inch perlite,colonized substrate,hygrometer,therometer

--------------------------=bottom container=4-6 inches water,submersible aquariam heater set to 86, 5 glass jars as spacers to keep top container off of heater,i use a 15 watt flourscent bulb to fruit on a 12/12 timer(keep grow light 3-4 feet from grow chamber and i also hang it at least 3-4 feet above it also,so only small amouts of blu light can enter.

my substrate mix is as follows:2 parts brown rice flour,1 part vermiculite,1 part flax seed, and 1 part rye grain or rye berries or bran flakes

does this sound like an ok set up? sorry i dont have pics ...no scanner or dig camera(kinda weary of going to kinkos and telling them to put these pics of my mushroom farm on disk for me..lol..lol)

*****update**** decided on using 2 seperate smaller containers that fit side by side on bottom container that is going to be my incabator....so i can have 2 grow chambers....will this affect my crop....as long as i have 2 therometers and 2 hygrometers? please give any advice..it will be applied with ease i promise...;0)

look at my post abt the globebox i'm makin i'll sell u one of them for 200 bux and it will do everything PERFECT ask roadkill he helped me desing some of it, and we're in current contrsuction of 2 other designs right now. PM me if ur interested this prototype of the GB i'm makin is gonna be tight check out my post!
