Cyan's in SF and a question about them...
    #517091 - 01/11/02 03:41 AM (21 years, 10 months ago)

So, it seems like cyan season is finally coming upon us with a bit of a vengence. I have been finding them (well, this year was the first time that i ever found any) for the past month, and three times within the past three days. It seems like finally they are really starting to become prevalent.

Also, what's awesome is that i only have to walk to the bottom of the hill that i live on, climb up into a eucalyptus covered hill and hike around for a couple hours, and come out with a bag full (no, not big bags) of beautiful specimins. Some are so huge...

Anyway, on tothe question. At my school, i recently found one patch (my first real patch), i counted about 15 at the time, and noticed that there were ALOT of little tiny pinners that were just starting to peek out. Here's the thing though, they havent really grown in the past couple days. It hasnt rained, and has actually been kind of sunny. So, the question would be, are they just growing slowly, waiting for water, or as big as they are gonna get and i should just be happy? How long does it usually take for a cyan to grow from pinner to full size?

thanks in advance...

If the caps are open and starting to turn up and get wavy, I'd go ahead and pick em.
