OK, I've done my searches and haven't found a suitable
answer so here goes:
I was under the impression that there were ultrasonic
humidifiers or cool spray humidifiers but I bought one
on ebay and when it came it said Sunbeam Ultrasonic
"Cool Spray" Humidifier. Instead of a Off, Low, High
switch, it has two sliders, one for humidity and one
for mist output. My timer is still in shipping so I ran it
to 95% in twenty minutes. Half hour later it was hitting
99% I expected the humidity to start dropping but six
hours later still 99% I have a pretty airtight styrofoam
cooler. My humidifier is diffused through three 2-litre
bottles(MMGG) with 7/16 tubing and my CO2 escapes
through the same type tubing at the bottom going into
a 20 oz bottle with the bottom cut off and a filter taped
over the opening. My humidity meter is hanging to the
underside of my spray shield. I thought my meter might
have a small water droplet in it but when I took it out, it
started falling, put it back, back to 99%. Is this possible
and is it bad? I'd like to cycle it as often as necessary for
air exchange but humidity dropping to 82% between
cycles is said to promote fruiting. What do you think?
Maybe add another drain or two? And where should
the sliders be? I started with them half way, they're
both on low now but same results. Sorry for long ass
post. Please help! Even smart ass replies welcome if

quite efficient aren't they!
is it possible for you to get a small (aquarium) air pump. they're pretty cheap. just erun that for air exchange. they do awesome for co2 drainage. after yo get one of those....see where your humidity rests at.

Thanks felix! I just happened to have one of those. It's a
double pumper I was about to use on a perlite setup. I
guess with aquarium valves I could manipulate how quick
it drops my humidity. Does anyone know how often I should
peak my humidity for maximum fruiting? and does it really
need to drop all the way down to 82%? Again thanks man.
I hooked it up and it's heading in the right direction! Ultracool!

find a short cycle tymer that can cycle 56 times a day and set it for 15 second intervals.this will cure your humidity and air exchange all in one step

i almost have the same prob as u except i'm the opposite my humidity is too low this is what i'm werkin wit.
i have a air pump pumping clean air in to a soda bottle attached to thee outside of my glovebox. b4 the bottle is a mm filter disc to make sure the air is clean, now inside the bottle i have a comp fan suckin in the clean air and circulating it around the glovebox. inside the glovebox i have a digi temp/hygro meter and its reading 77f and 87% humidity. b4 it was reading 81 f and 60% humid its obviously going up(due to the fact i added some perlite at the bottom of the glovebox)but my temp dropped now. what should i do to even the temp out shut off the pump and fan what should i do how many hours on and off should i have it and the colonizing tray was sittten at like 60% humidity for like 4 days b4 this i couldn't get it up did that effect it.?

EatMeKids, Humidity too low = too much airflow. Sounds like
you could turn off the comp. fan and let the pump run (assuming it's an aquarium pump) Perlite will up the humidity but will take longer to recover than a humidifier. You might want to run you air line on in to your glovebox and drop a bubble stone into a jar of water to up your humidity. Take the
rubber cover off the bottom of your air pump and tape a filter on in it's place. If you want to bring your temp up put an aquarium heater into the water with you bubbler. I saw your glove box and it looks pretty badass but I'm not reallly sure what you're doing there. What is a soulfood machine? From what I've read a glovebox is for innoculations and transfers. Casings that are colonising need hardly any airflow. None when they start out. For fruiting a casing 77/87% sounds almost ideal. To exhaust your CO2 your outlet needs to pick up from the bottom of your box because CO2 is heavier than air(mostly nitrogen). As for what happened four days ago, it shouldn't affect humidity today. i just checked it this morning and its riding at like 77F and 92% humidity i had the air exhchange system off for the night and the humiidty went up rediculously so i'm straight on humidity now. alls i need is the tempature toget up there, whats ideal and how might i do this? the sould food machine is just my terrarium where i have the colonizing media at. now i wanted the top of the soulfood machine to be open so i can get air exchange and let co2 and stale air out.(this is y i made the glvoebox) now the heating i just take a cup of water and submerse the heater into it? and yes i do have a fish air pump. if u seen my post then i should tell u this i changed the soda bottle filter thing, i put a fish air pump connecting to where the filter was on the spout of the bottle. drilled a hole in the cap and screwed it on tight as hell, before it goes into the bottle theres a MM filter disc. well what yall think? heh went from a humidity prob to a temp prob, heheheheh.

i had a cheap humidity guage like that and it maxed out at 99 all the time. at one point i had 3 guages at point to measure the humidity and the electronic was always higher than the others.

wakinguplate, I picked up a 56 cycle timer at Revy. U could for sure find one at any hydroponics supply store or any decent hardware stores. www.greenair.com has the best timers out there. They are a little pricy, but well worth it!....

Thanks guys, I got a 60 cycle timer but, I think this humidity
gauge is truly a peice of shit. After a week my pins don't
seem to grow and my cakes seem to be really lite and dried
out. And there doesn't seem to be any buildup of water in
bottom of cooler. Bummer huh!
I'm considering adding straws and dist. water this evening. If
anyone wants to object please do so before I drill! (in about
six hours) And if any has one of these gauges BEWARE! I'm
considering putting a post "BEWARE OF THIS GAUGE!

Finally got a reply from the master shroomer! And once again
he's right on the money. So, what do you think Anno about
drilling a hole and adding a peice of drinking straw to bring my
cakes back from the dessert? I haven't seen much about it
round the shroomery but, I saw some massive cakes done
this way on another site. Thanks

WakingUpLate, where did you hook up your aquarium pump? Is it blowing air out of the terrarium? Or what exactly. I've never used a pump, but it sounds like it might be worth a try.

where did you hook up your aquarium pump?
In the top corner opposite my drain but watch it, it'll blow
you terrerium dry if you're not careful, as you can see from
this thread. You might want to put it on a timer as well or a
bubbler. I have a few hygrometers in shipping. Now that I
know mine's junk I wonder if I need the pump at all. The
humidifier moves quite a bit of air.
