Abort Theory
    #516740 -

What would happen is you use those potent little abhorts for cloning, or to create some honey water... would the increased potency carry over to future shrooms, or is the abort dead for these purposes?

Sounds like you are a favorite of abborts..This may belong in advanced but, it is hard to work with a strain without sporelation, and to work with completely unstable individual would have to be near impossible..Once a mushroom, well an abort is technically not a mushroom..once a pin begins it's cycle and aborts the tissue dies off so quickly by the time you terminate the decay, the myclellium healthy myc would be the only thing left..I believe although aborts are strong by weight, they are no stronger than the mushroom would have ultimately have been upon maturity......None of this I wrote is proven, just ideas of the subject.....If you want aborts, you can make aborts by stressing them horribly, a stalled growth period or a slight intro to a unharmful mold will cause a pin to abort....

Going crazy will drive you mad, but once you get there the rest is easy....All spores are not created equal!!!!!!!!!!! Sporeworks, Hawkseye, PF, they are completely viable with very strong genetics.

aborts :)

anyways, why would you want to clone the abort, people tend to want to breed (clone) the better offspring not the runts....some three legged, blind, mutt horse isnt going to stud nearly as many champions as some purebred.

Ahh.. but potency of the abort is greater.. perhaps if you force the most promising shroom that is growing to abort, then clone immediately... I wonder if this would have the desired result, OR if egoless is correct in his assumption that the potency of the abort is relative to the shroom it would've been... in which case this whole thing is fruitless.

well if you are just going to go with theory (or if its actualy prooven and not by personal experience) that the abort is greater, its greater by weight, meaning 5 grams of aborts would give you a stronger trip than one 5 gram fruit. in that case you could just pic all your fruit before they mature, when they are around the size of your average abort. and then you can do a test of aborts v. immature fruit and see if its actually the abort (which i dont think) or just the ration of chemicals to dry wt of the immature fruit (which is what i think it is)

Hmm.. well actually.. if I based this on viewing the amount of blueing of an immature fruit vs. an abort the abort is wayyyyy more potent... both being the same size.. but what I was saying before was that if you allow a fruit to mature, then abort it... if this is possible... will it become much more potent, as the small abort's do. and if so.. could it be then cloned to produce a more potent strain.

I have to agree with ar393 on this. What is the point? And BTW, I've never noticed the aborts getting any more blue than the rest of the fruits.

Well, as I have said twice now, increased potency in future fruits... and as for the bluing.. I have seen it with B+ aborts, and it is very noticeable.

what you arent getting is the potency of future mature fruits will remain the same because the wt ratios will change, if you want to continue to get the same potency (again if you are actually believe that aborts are more potent, discounting wt) as the aborts, you will continue to have to eat immature or aborted fruit. there is no magic thing that happens when immature fruits abort that causes them to be more potent.

Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles.

I have made a clone, that must have been an abort, or at least carried the genetics for aborting. When this culture was grown out almost all mushrooms aborted.

why would you want to waste all that good substrate on abhorts.

That's ludicrous

size potency curiosity...
substrate is cheap...

since aborts are small and potent, you could have some kick ass mushrooms that take up less space, are better for honey storage, easier to swallow..

yeah but it blows the ideal of bulk out of the window.

Well, considering the little buggers aren't sucking so much moisture for growing, I'd imagine you'd be able to get a whole hell of a lot more of them off one grow.

Actually it was a major pain in the ass! Picking all those aborts, most were the size of a pill or smaller. I decided to start fresh, because the yield was terrible.

I discovered this by accident so please, don't attempt to clone aborts. Its not worth it, save you time!
