Misting damages pins?

my friend was wondering when one has to worry about damaging pins by misting. coco coir tends to dry out fast even in a high humidity environment.

at what point in a pinhead's development does that cease to be a danger?

Until they start to turn blue. You'll notice the tiny blue spots appear to be random, but maybe someone more experienced could come up with a more accurate answer.

I'd mist it if it looks dry. Don't go overboard though.

I was having the same prob with my casings (horse dung with lots of straw in it ) and the straw dries pretty quickly too. but i had pins growing also and diddn't want to cause abhorts, humidity was high as i could get it (ultrasonic humidifier) and i knew it needed water somehow, so someone told me to add water to side of the pan, just like watering a plant, and the substrate will get the moisture by the wicking process.
