manure fully colonised??

When I use a manure substrate, i often find that the mycelium is far more rhizomorphic, but never seems to turn the entire substrate white with mycelia like other substrates, but just winds through the substrate?? IS this right?

I've noticed the same. Sometimes it does a better job than others though.
