So im reading this post about amanita symbolsim and there seems to be a connection to the pinecone symbol.
to make a long story short,we are wondering wether that has anything to do with a possible role of the pinecone in the growing process of this mushroom...
the simpelest way to figure this out i can think of woud be an attempt to cultivate this mushroom with the help of pinecones...
has anything like this ever been tried?

Or maybe make a liquid culture of the mycelium and inoculate with it the roots of known trees where it seems to grow under.

it always seems to be under those kind of trees, i can honestly see the relation there, and im sure * since pine cones do fall where most of them grow * you could probably do it cultivate a couple.

It's relationship to pinecones is through its association with the tree's roots. Amantias are mycorrhizal and not saprobic, so I don't think you'll have much luck growing them on pinecones.

not growing, but perhaps for making spawn, or perhaps the presence of rotting cones in the soil has an effect on the situation or something like that...

A. muscaria is really slow to experiment with. I took a clone in October last year, and in three months it has grown maybe 1 cm (less than half an inch) on peroxide PDA. It would be cool to try to inoculate axenically grown pine or spruce seedlings with it though.

well the thing is no1 has been able to grow amanita that i know of, even by innoculating roots of living trees.
after discussing this pinecone symbolism we considered it might be more then just an amanita synonim but perhaps there are some chemicals in the cones that increases the chance of achieving symbiosis or something like that...
maybe we could use pinecones in some way to attach amanita to trees of our choice...

have you used anything but peroxide PDA? first, the perixode might inhibit the growth vs regular PDA. second, have you tried other agar formulas besides PDA? perhaps a diffrent formula would best suit the amanita, or even temps. etc...

No, not yet, I still have very little material to work with.
