I just puchased Organic Rye Berries and would love to know if i should use a live culture instead of innoculating spores strait into the jars. I know live cultures are faster but im waiting on agar and petri dishes so would like a little help on the way to prepare my rye? Also where do i find wide mouth 1 pint jars this time of year?

I used some spores and saw growth w/i 3 days. Soak rye in jars for 12 hours, pressure cook for 1 hr @ 15 psi. Once cool innoculate w/ spores.

Approx
110 grams(ml) water
100 grams grain

Does anyone have a volumetric equivilant approximation for the density of rye? ie 1 cup = 50 grams

With the rye and birdseed I use:

100 g rye = 125 ml

100 g birdseed = 140 ml
