My incubator sucks balls. Help?

Alright here's the deal. I have an incubator in a cooler about 2.5ft x 1ft. There's a fishtank poormans heater (fishtank heater in a 500ml bottle) On the first 2 days the temp would only go up about 2degrees. So, 2 days ago I jacked the temp up to 100F :o!! And...It's still garbage, 1 degree up woohoo. What gives? Should I change the container for the heater or what? Oh, and there's a nice big warm fuzzy blanket covering the cooler.

Either your heater sucks, or, the heatbomb you made is too small for the incubation chamber.
Set up a TiT the real way, buy a stronger heater, or use more water in your heatbomb

A heating pad under a TiT set up is working nicely in a fairly cold room around my parts. Might want to try that.

You should really just follow Coda's advice. I have TIT in my attic w/ 20* temps at night, I have no problem w/ my TIT. You already have the fish tank heater just spend $10 more bucks for two tubs.

Perhaps if you charged money to people to let you incubator "suck their balls?" We should market those.
I personally think the Attic is a great idea. somewhat slower but they will colonize at room temperature.

Your heater is too powerful...
look at like a 50W or less heater. I ran into this problem way back in the day... I Think i use a 25W one now and works great.

Don't forget to put a blanket underneath the thing too. People assume that just because of the adage "heat rises" that it doesn't matter what's going on at the bottom. The cold ass floor is touching your tub and making the water 3" away from it cold. Wrap the whole set up.

just buy a small electric heater with adjustable heat settings, I have one of those and it keeps it 70-78 perfectly. sadly it doesn't have a thermostat so that is why the temperature fluctuates so much, on a normal week it will stay from 75-78 at all times.

You aren't producing enough heat. I had the same issue back when I used a "heat-bomb" until I upgraded my 2 liter bottle for a gallon sized jug. Now it works fantastic. Good luck.
