Vermiculite and the dreaded "C" word...

I went to my local Homie Depot armed with the latest PF Tek, and I was told that they didn't carry Vermiculite any more. Apparently it contains asbestos and causes cancer in those who produce the material. I know where I can get it, but are there other options that are as good as Verm?

the great people that started home deopt have recently become morons because they got shit scared because one mine somewhere had some amounts of asbestos, go to a different store or order it online.

home depot isnt the only place that have pulled it from the shelves because of asbestos. many hardware stores in the NW pulled it. But chances are that it will be back at spring, alot of these stores cary it seasonal. I honestly havent ben able to find a finer grade vermiculite at any store at all, Ive had to order it online. Peruvian journey has an excelent grade of vermiculite.

Local nursery should have it... I bought a commercial size bag of it for $10 It`s huge 5 cu ft I believe

Definately try Lowe's me and my buddy tried them in a last ditch effort after all the local nurseries. They had a big stock of it and i think we bought something like 10 bags.
