    #5139416 - 01/04/06 04:00 PM (18 years, 4 months ago)

why does it list your speed as zero when you're using nicotine?

my speed is listed as zero. i have a friend who uses nicotine, and hers is listed as zero as well. in the "nicotine" room on soulseek, 70% of the people have a speed listed as zero.

hmm never noticed that before. no idea - must be some bug.

I do still recommend updated to the daelstrom version (just dl it and extract into your home folder and change your icons/links to point to "nicotine" in that folder). lots of bug fixes - the version in the repo is old.

On windows I recommend the official slsk client. I've never had any problems with it that made me want to look for an alternative.

And on *nix, nicotine is great.

the problem with nicotine is it is no longer being developed, so as the offical clients progress, nicotine will become more and more outdated.

museek is what is currently being developed, but right now it is quite difficult to install...I've not had any luck.

the official client is the only thing I miss about windows.
soulseeX is quite good for OSX.
