P.C. Question

I recently was given a nice pressure canner. I dont know how many quarts but it is a big bastard ,a presto delux from the late 60's I think. Anyway, I fired it up to do some canning and it started shaking and the ball on the vent tube was rattleing and there was steam coming from the other vent. Well thats all normal but the pressure guage never left zero, shouldnt it at least have moved alittle? I turned down the heat so that I wouldnt accidently melt my lids. Should I have let it go a while to build pressure on the guage? If anybody has one of these things let me know. I dont want to undercook jars and If this big boy ever blows up it will probably take my whole house down haha.

I kept getting the machine at the presto # and their website didnt help so..... BUMP!

Never mind, I was thrown off by the fact that this thing takes over 30 min. to build pressure. It works great after that though.
