I been using Linux and FreeBSD for 5 years now. I used Gentoo for a while. I have done a stage 1 before.

IME, the specific applications of any OS can be a science unto itself. I mean, I have deployed Linux in a home desktop environment, a sound processing environment and in a small server/client network. Each application called for wildly differing approaches and skill sets and distributions. IMO, the power of Linux lies in it's innate malleability into a specialised OS.

The biggest Gentoo nerd I've talked to in person is Vampire999. That guy is head and shoulders above me on anything Linux related.

I got a bunch of Gentoo experience. I'm running debian at the moment, but I can probably help out with a bunch of shit, as I've had to solve plenty o' Gentoo problems.

I used to run gentoo on my pc, but then I had to start doing a lot of windows programming so had to get rid of it, but i still have some boxes with CentOS, Suse, and Gentoo.

Tell me how your clustering experience goes, ive been waiting for all my friends to get xbox 360 so i can buy their xboxes real cheap and set up a huge cluster of xboxes. I have gentoo loaded on the one xbox i have.

Fellow gentoo'ers unite.

Been running gentoo for about 2 years now, although now I use my computer more as a practicality than a hobby.

I run linux exclusively, but in all honesty, my knowledge is limited to the usual desktop environment. I do work in the commandline when necessary. that's enough for my purposes (web browsing, music, p2p, movies, instant messaging, ftp, basic image manipulation, ut2004, ripping cds to ogg/flac, dvd ripping/burning, etc).
