Skipping the Jars?

I was checking my casing today, and I came up with an idea! I want to know if anyone has tried this before. Has anyone just skipped the jars and made casing without the mycelium, then just injected the spores right into the casing? I assume that this will work but my chance of infection will rise. I'm just looking for a way to shave some time off the overall process.

Will take longer...if it works. One way you could keep the casings going would be to take a chunk of mycelium that you would ahve used in a casing and inoculate more jars with it...they should colonize fairly quick and then just keep repeating the process. This way you should have a few harvests every week. Cheers
