Bad news when i opened my air-tight bags that i attempted to store my casings in while i went away. I wrapped these in foil and hoped that at total darkness and cold temp/zero air exchange they would stop fruiting - they all did, and the 50/50 cased guys are fine, but the verm cased ones have all gone sooo green...
Leason - i wont try this again
I dont know if this is the same thing, but once I was called away for a Ceremony in a neighboring province, and I had whipped up a batch of verm/BRF substrate- and packed it in my cold storage-
A week later it was so run through with black mold , I had to disinfect my fridge for fear of contaminating everything else-
Yeah, my guess is that a few nasties were lying dormant on the casing surface and when the air was still enough, overran the mycelia.. Oh well, live and learn! :-)
To add a success story to this bleak thread.. my girlfriends beaver went home for xmas and new years... it had two 50/50 casings in ziplocks in the fridge and now they're pinning like mofo's. yay.
