What kind of a tree is it? We need to know what it is before giving you any good advice. The only advice I can give you now is don't practice Kung Fu on your new tree. Bonsai's don't like it very much. Go to www.gardenweb.com and check out the bonsai forum.

Bonsai is a balance. Not too little; Not too much. You must water it not too little and not too much. You must prune it not too little and not too much. The pot should be not too little and not too big.

Here are your concerns:

Water, Nutrients, Light, Temp, Humidity, Pruning, Root Growth, Repoting, and Design.

Go to the library or do a search on a couple engines for bonsai. You will find a site you like more than "Gardenweb" . Try to find out what type of tree it is by looking at pictures. Then find it's growth requirements. From there you can study up on care and design of a tree.

For now keep it in the most sunny area possible. Beside a south facing window. Keep it watered; not too little, not too much. Don't let it completly dry out and don't waterlog it. The size of the pot and the tree determines how often and how much you water. If you dont have a south facing window you might want to check out tropical indoor bonsai. You can Bonsai just about anything. After you do some studying you can go buy a houseplant and Bonsai it.

I also reccomend for any plant some "Maxicrop"

Go to Planet Natural for some good organic products (including Maxicrop). I've had good experience with these people.

What style of Kung Fu are you interested in?
I would recommend you learn a little about Jeet Kune Do, as it is the martial art based on formlessness. It does not limit itself to any particular style, and you use any technique that allows for maximum flowness.
I started with Tae Kwon Do, and after realizing what a joke it is, (no offense to anyone who takes Tae Kwon Do) discovered Tao Shin Na and Long Fist Kung Fu.... I use techniques aqcuired from both styles, but after learning Jeet Kune Do, everything flows much better and I find myself not limited to any kind of particular movement or pattern.

Oh yeah, and bonsaii trees are good for a harmonious zen.

Akiido is the only marshal art that is worth learning if you are interested in self defense. The others are pretty useless as far as fighting goes.
