Motherfucking SATA Hard Drives...

Can someone help me? Here's the run down: I just built a new PC, put all the parts together and what not, I put in a 40gb Seagate hard drive and formatted that and installed windows and got that all set up then I turned off the PC, hooked up the 250gb Maxtor hard drive (SATA) and it recognized it, it WAS in My Computer, but now it isn't. And I had already moved all my important shit over to G:/ (which was the SATA drive) and was keeping the windows files on the 40gb Seagate. But now seemingly this drive has dissappeared, which leaves me with two huge fucking questions:
1.) Are all my files and everything important I put on G:/ gone?
and
2.) How the hell do I get G:/ back???
Please please please help if you can, I've searched around but it's hard to search for something this specific, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all, peace.

Just had that problem....it's the size of the drive, not the SATA. If it came with an install disk, use that. Solved my problem right quick.
Mebbe someone more enlightened can come along and tell us how to do it manually tho...

Found it: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303013 down a bit on the page it gives you a manual fix.
Also: http://www.pcanswers.co.uk/tips/default.asp?pagetypeid=2&articleid=36979&subsectionid=616 down at the bottom of the page it gives instructions on how to get the Maxtor utility to do it without any scary fucking around. Apparently it's universal.

sounds odd...but if it is hooked up properly, try this: Run Computer management under administrative stools. Click on Storage, then disk management. If it shows up there, right click on the 40gb drive and then click one of the options. its something like import or convert or something, can't remember off the top of my head. then click ok, and it should work. if it doesn't, I'm all out of ideas.

Sweet! I got it to work with the Maxtor Big Drive Enabler, that site's link didn't work for the download but if you Google it you can find a bunch of links to DL it. I had to install the big drive enabler, then turn off the PC, disconnect the SATA drive, turn on the PC, turn it back off after it booted all the way up, then reconnect the SATA drive and it finally recognized it. Thanks so much! All my files were still there and intact!
